Chapter 15 Cornelius Fudge
"Hagin?" Ron looked in disbelief. "I know Hain has a special hobby for monsters, but he can never be the one who opens the secret room. Only the descendants of Slytherin can open the secret room. Do you think Hain is the descendants of Slytherin, Harry?"
"I don't believe it's Hagrid, either." Harry wiped the sweat off his forehead. "But this Riddle's notebook told me, no, he took me directly into his memory and witnessed how Riddle caught Hagrid. It was because of this incident that Riddle won the school's special contribution award. Hagrid was expelled from the school and broke his wand."
"He reported Hagrid? It sounds like Percy did it." Ron said after hearing Harry's narration.
"But monsters kill, Ron," Harry said. "If they close Hogwarts, Riddle will be back in a Muggle orphanage, and I think it's understandable that he wants to stay here."
"No matter what, this matter must be related to Hagrid. I don't believe that Hagrid opened the secret room, but Hagrid must know some of the inside story of the secret room. We have to ask Hagrid." Harry said biting his lip.
"That was a pleasant visit," said Ron. "Hello, Hagrid, tell us, have you released some savage, hairy thing in the castle recently?"
Finally, they decided to visit Hagrid on Friday night and make a fuss to see if they could ask for some information.
Gryffindor's next Quidditch game was against Hufflepuff. Wood insisted that the players train after dinner every day, so Harry had little time to do anything other than training and finish homework. However, training was getting more and more handy, or at least not getting too rainy. When he walked to the dormitory to put down his broomstick the night before Saturday's game, he felt that Gryffindor had never been as sure as he was to win the Quidditch Cup as he was now.
But his happy mood did not last long. As soon as he arrived at the dormitory building, he saw Neville Longbottom with a panic on his face.
"Harry-I don't know who did it. I just found out-"
Neville looked at Harry in horror and pushed open the door.
Harry's box was thrown everywhere. His clothes were slid on the floor. The sheets were pulled from his four-standard bed, and the drawers of the nightstand were pulled open, and the things inside were scattered on the mattress.
Harry opened his mouth wide and walked towards the bed, stepping on several pages of paper that fell out of "Walking with the Trolls".
As he and Neville put the sheets back on the bed, Ron, Yingan and Semo came in too. Dean shouted.
"What's going on, Harry?" "I don't know." Harry said. Ron was carefully looking at Harry's clothes. All his pockets were turned out.
"Someone is looking for something," Ron said, "Is there something missing?"
Harry began to pick up all his belongings and threw them back into the box one by one. Only when he threw Lockhart's last book in, did he realize what was missing.
"Riddle's diary is gone," he said to Ron in a low voice.
"What? Only Gryffindors can steal - no one else knows our password."
"It's good at all," said Harry.
"Ron, we have to talk to Hager. This is so weird. Riddle's diary was stolen. Hager can know the inside story."
"But the castle is very strict at night now," Ron said.
"I think," Harry said, his voice lighter, "I should take out my dad's old robe now."
Harry inherited only one thing from his father: a long, silver-shining invisible cloak. If they wanted to sneak out of school to visit Hagrid without being discovered, they all depended on it. At night, Harry and Ron got into bed as usual, and waited until Neville, Dean and Semo stopped discussing the secret room. They finally fell asleep. They got up from the bed, put on their clothes again, and draped their robes on the two of them.
The journey was not pleasant to walk through the gloomy corridor. Harry had wandered around the castle several times in the middle of the night, but never saw so many people after the sun set. The teacher, the chief and the ghost patrol the corridor in pairs, checking for any abnormalities. Harry's invisible clothes did not prevent them from making noises. Once, Ron stumbled suddenly, and Snape stood guard a few steps away from him. Fortunately, Snape almost sneezes while Ron sneezed. When they finally came to the oak door and opened them gently, they breathed a sigh of relief. It was a starry night, and they hurriedly walked towards the light-shaped window of Hagrid's residence, all the way to him
Outside the door, they took off their robes. After a few seconds after they knocked on the door, Hagrid opened the door. They saw Hagrid holding a set of bows and arrows at them, and the big hunting dog barked loudly behind him. "Oh, it's you," he said, putting down his weapons and glaring at them, "What are you two here for?, "What are you doing?" They walked into the room, and Harry pointed at the set of bows and arrows and said. "Nothing, nothing." Hagrid said in a vague sense, "I thought--it's okay--sit down, I'll go make tea." He seemed a little uneasy, the water in the kettle spilled out, almost putting out the fire, and then his thick hand shook apart and knocked over the teapot. "Are you okay, Hagrid?" Harry said.
"It's okay-" At this moment, a loud knock on the door came.
Hagrid threw away the fruit cake, Harry and Ron exchanged gazes in panic, then quickly put the invisible clothes on their bodies and retreated to a corner. Hagrid saw that they were all hidden, so he grabbed his bow and arrow and pulled the door open again. "Good evening, Hagrid." It was Dumbledore. He walked in with a serious expression, followed by Jack Silver. Behind him was a very strange man. The stranger was short, fat, dumb, with a mess of gray hair, and an anxious look on his face. His clothes were a strange hodgepodge: a pinstripe suit, a bright red tie, a long black cape, and a purple pointed boot. He had a dark green hat under his arms.
"That's my dad's boss!" Ron gasped, "Connelly Forge, Minister of Magic!" Ha pounded Ron with his elbow, causing him to shut up. Hagrid's face turned pale and sweat began to sweat on his forehead. He fell into a chair, looked at Dumbledore, and then looked at Connelly Forge.
"Hagge, you should know what I am coming. There have been many attacks on Muggles in the school. I was going to take you to Azkaban." Fudge said in a crisp and quick tone. "But Professor Dumbledore said he had enough evidence to prove you are innocent, so we canceled our original intention."
"Oh, thank you Merlin." Hagrid suddenly collapsed on an armchair, his weight creaked. "Thank you very much, Principal." Hagrid choked.
"Hagge, you're thanking Silver." Dumbledore said with a smile. "If Silver hadn't had strong testimony, I'm afraid I would have no choice."
"Dumbledore, I still don't understand. Even if that monster is a snake monster, how can it be proved that Hagrid is not the murderer?" said Forge.
"Minister, only the snake monster can be controlled by the snake monster. You don't think Hagrid will be the snake monster." Silver smiled. "How could that be? Actually, I just forgot about it." Fudge slapped and covered it up.
"Did you hear it? Harry, Hagrid is not the murderer, that monster is a snake monster, with only a snake-like accent—" Ron said, suddenly his face turned pale. "No, it's not me." Harry was also a little stunned.
"If you can catch the real murderer this time and clear your charges from Hagrid-" Before Fogg could finish his words, someone knocked on the door.
Dumbledore went over to open the door. Mr. Lucius Malfoy walked into Hagrid's hut, his body was tightly wrapped in a long black travel cloak, with a cold, satisfied smile on his eyelids. His teeth began to bark.
"You're here, Forge," he said with satisfaction, "very good, very good." "What are you doing here?" Hagrid said angrily, "Get out and leave my house!"
"Dear friend, please believe me, I am not happy to enter your room-oh--you call this house?" Lucius Malfoy looked around the small room and sneered. "I just came to the school to see it, and someone told me that the principal was here."
"What's the point of asking me for? Lucius?" Dumbledore said. He spoke politely, but a fury burned in his blue eyes.
"Things are terrible," said Mr. Malfoy lazily, taking out a long roll of parchment, "the board thinks you should leave. This is a dismissal order - you will see the twelve directors signing on it. We think you may not have used your talents. There have been so many attacks in the school so far, but you have not found out at all. According to your efficiency, Hogwarts will soon have no students left."
"Lucius, Dumbledore had just told me that he had discovered the direct murderer of the attack - it was a basilisk under control." Fudge said.
"Batriot?" Lucius Malfoy sneered. "Why don't you say it's a dragon? Maybe this will be better."
"Lucius, do you think we are joking with you?" Dumbledore said, taking out a huge colorful scale, which must belong to a huge snake. "This is what we discovered from the school pipeline. After identification, it belongs to a thousand-year-old snake monster, and this scale has also fallen off recently."
"Even if you say that," Malfoy said, with a smirk on his face, "but all the twelve of us voted-"
"Mr. Malfoy, I'm afraid things have changed." Silver also took out a piece of parchment from his arms. "Although the resolution of the school board cannot be changed - don't forget that my Silver family has a veto on the resolution of the school board."
"How is this possible? This is-" Lucius Malfoy seemed a little furious. "If you don't believe it, Mr. Malfoy could also go back and read the second chapter of Chapter 5 of the Board of Directors. In order to repay the contribution of the Silver family to Hogwarts for nearly ten centuries, the Silver family has a veto power over the Hogwarts board resolution."
"So, what I, Silver family, meant that this resolution of the board of directors--is invalid," Silver said word by word.
"you--"
"Of course, if Mr. Malfoy is confident in dealing with a thousand-year-old basilisk, my Silver family can even support Mr. Malfoy, you will serve as the principal position."
"Hmph, so what if I know it was the Snake Monster who did it? If I can't find the real murderer who controls the Snake Monster, Dumbledore would be dismissed!" Lucius Malfoy said a harsh sentence, strode towards the door of the cottage, opened the door, and slammed the door and left.
"Lucius is probably a little irritated." Fudge put on his hat. "If nothing happens, I will say goodbye. I hope Professor Dumbledore, you can detect the murderer who controls the Basilisk as soon as possible. If necessary, I can transfer a group of people from the Fantastic Beast Management Division and the Auror office."
"Thank you, Minister," said Dumbledore. "I will definitely notify you if you need it."
"It's very late, everyone has to go back and rest." Dumbledore said to Silver: "I'm really trouble you to come here with me so late, Jack."
At that moment, Harry was almost certain that Dumbledore's eyes glanced at the corner where he and Ron were hiding.
"It's okay, principal, it's a big deal." Silver replied.
After everyone left, Harry and Ron came out of the invisible cloak.
