Chapter 8 The Time-Turner and Sirius Black

"Seriously, Hermione, I think you have to adjust your schedule." Silver poured Hermione a cup of coffee.

Hermione's hair was fluffy in a mess, and the red bloodshot in her eyes showed that she was very tired. Hermione said irritably, "Jack, I don't think my course is wrong. It's just that my attitude towards learning has been a little lazy recently. I actually forgot to take Professor Flevy's magic lesson because I overslept. It's so bad!" Hermione grabbed her hair irritably, "Although Professor Flevy didn't say anything, I feel he was very angry."

"Okay, Hermione." Silver patted Hermione's back to calm her down. "Professor Flevy won't be angry with you. Professor Flevy is a very easy-going person. Besides, your grades in your studies are so good, Professor Flevy will forgive you for your unintentional mistakes."

Silver sat down opposite Hermione. "I want to tell you about your course schedule. Don't rush to interrupt me, I know these situations. I know you chose all the courses, so your courses must have conflicts. But I know you didn't pull a single class, which means you must have used the Ministry of Magic time converter."

"How do you know-"

"Maybe the Ministry of Magic will keep it secret from ordinary wizards, but the time converter is not a secret to ancient magic families like our family. Hermione, the time converter is not perfect, I suggest you stop using this thing."

"But my class—"

"Nothing is true. The time converter is just an imperfect gadget. It does not allow you to really go back to the past, the time and space he has brought you back to, what you have experienced, and what you have done are what has happened."

"I, I don't understand what you said." Hermione looked confused.

"The time converter is just a device that allows you to move limitedly on the timeline - you missed the spell class because you overslept. You must have used the time converter to want to go back to that point in time, but it didn't work."

Hermione nodded.

"That's because you didn't do this in the past. Time converters can't change things in the past. All you can experience is the fact that it has happened."

"I seem to understand a little," Hermione said, "but I don't understand why you insisted that I stop using the time converter."

"As I said, the time converter is just an incomplete device. Wizards can move limitedly on the time converter through the time converter. They can even see their past selves and move elsewhere without restrictions. But this kind of travel on the time converter is very energy-consuming. Now you have to use the time converter at least twice a day. If this continues, your physical and mental fatigue will increase several times out of thin air. In the long run, you will collapse. Look at what you are now." Silver took out a mirror to Hermione.

"Oh my god, why did I become like this!" Hermione panickedly and rubbed her blood-filled eyes. "Oh, my dark circles are too deep! What should I do!"

Looking at Hermione in a panic, Silver felt very interesting: "Look, this is the side effect of using the time converter. So I suggest you discuss your class schedule and time converter with Professor McGonagall. Although Professor McGonagall is harsh, he is a very considerate professor. Go and talk to Professor McGonagall."

"Hermione, few people will finish that thick book like you." Padma snickered.

"Open the lights now!" Percy shouted, "I want everyone to go into the sleeping bag and stop talking!"

All the candles were immediately extinguished. Now the only light came from the silver ghosts, who wandered around and spoke seriously with the predecessors. The magic-made ceiling was like the sky outside, covered with stars.

Every hour a teacher appeared in the auditorium to see if everything was safe. At about three o'clock in the morning, many students finally fell asleep. At this time, Professor Dumbledore came in. Silver pricked up his ears and listened carefully.

"Is there any sign of him, Professor?" Percy asked whispered.

"No. How about it here?"

"Everything is under control, sir."

"Okay. Now there's no need to let them change places. I've found a temporary guard for the portrait hole of the Gryffindor Courtyard. You can call everyone back tomorrow."

"Where is Fat Lady, sir?"

"Hide in the Angel County map on the third floor. Apparently she refused to let Black in without asking the order, so he took action. She was still in a very bad mood, but once she calmed down, I asked Felch to fix her."

"Princip?" This is Snape. "The entire fourth floor has been checked, he is not there. Felch checked the main building of the castle, and there is no one there."

"Where is the astronomical tower? Professor Trelawney's room? Where does the owl live and haunt?"

“It’s checked.”

"Very good, Severus, I didn't really think Black would stay or not."

"How did he come in? Do you have any insights on this, Principal?" Snape asked.

"Many, Severus, each one is as impossible as the one below."

"You remember our conversation, Principal, right before the semester begins?" Snape said, his lips barely opening when he spoke, as if he didn't want Percy to participate in their conversation. "Remember, Severus," Dumbledore said, with a warning-like meaning in his voice.

"It seems—almost impossible—Blake can't get into this school without internal help. I did express my concern, in your appointment—"

"I don't believe anyone in this castle will help Black come in," Dumbledore said, his tone clearly stated that the matter ended here, so Snape did not answer. "I have to go to the dementors," Dumbledore said. "I said we will inform them after we search."

"Are they going to help, sir?" said Snape.

"Oh, yes," Dumbledore said coldly, "but I'm afraid that as long as I serve as principal for one day, they will never be allowed to cross the threshold of the school."
