Chapter 400: Circular Structure

When Chen Xin and his group members designed a shelter, the ideal solution proposed was to use missile silos or abandoned military air raid shelters to transform the shelter and build the shelter into a small community.

However, this plan was abandoned due to the policy and economic problems of the Yan Kingdom, and everyone turned to build their own private shelters.

In the initial idea, everyone actually had a lot of ideas about the design of the shelter.

Some of the ideas are very practical, such as planting greenhouses, water circulation systems, air filtration and communication facilities, but some are relatively unrealistic and can also play some roles.

For example, building a library and carrying a large number of paper books into a shelter is indeed a good idea. After all, paper books can be preserved longer than electronic products. When reading, just cherish the books and read a book for decades.

This is of course a very practical idea, but unfortunately, before the disaster, the Internet was developed and people rarely read physical books. Even the bookstores that were originally spread all over the streets and alleys have long been extinct for many years, so it has become difficult to buy physical books.

In addition, everyone brought electronic products into the shelter, so the library was not so necessary, so when Chen Xin built the shelter, he saved the library.

When they were referring to some foreign shelters designs, they saw their shelters, cinemas, supermarkets, and swimming pools. In fact, everyone had some ideas in their minds.

It’s just that due to the actual situation, because it is not the community model originally envisioned, the supermarket is useless, and the cinema can prepare a home theater by itself in the living room, which is a good idea.

As for the large area of the swimming pool, it also consumes valuable water resources. If the weather is too cold, you have to prepare a constant temperature equipment for the swimming pool. It is too luxurious and troublesome. It is better to prepare a large bathtub, so no one really builds a swimming pool.

In addition, there are bars only available in Mo Qingyan's home, billiards rooms in the city where some group members who originally like to play billiards, and VR experience rooms in the group members who play VR. These are functional facilities that only belong to one or two people. For others, they are also a state of longing for but not getting them.

Although Chen Xin later created a functional facility such as a fish pond and medical room that could raise fish through material exchange, he still did not have some things.

However, now, Chen Xin feels that he can have the conditions to build some facilities to improve his quality of life, so that he can live a better life while also having a more comfortable life.

For example, the frozen wines in Mo Qingyan’s wine cellar were discussed with Mo Qingyan before when to get the wines out.

If he could get that batch of wine, Chen Xin felt that he could build a wine cellar and bar in the shelter.

Moreover, although he built a hot spring bath, he didn't think it was anything to use it alone before. Now that there are too many people in the shelter, Chen Xin still feels that it is necessary to expand it, at least the men and women are separated, so that it is not necessary to divide the men and women's time every time he wants to use the bath.

In addition, since we are going to do research and manufacture things, the original workplace area made Chen Xin feel that it was a little smaller, so we should also adjust it.

With the emergence of many ideas of Chen Xin, the shelter on the drawings has become completely different.

Not only are there several more spaces, but the overall area is larger. The main part of the shelter, which was originally buried deep underground and had a drop of dozens of meters from the entrance, has also been adjusted on the drawings. The gap between the two is now only the height of one floor.

This height difference is not a problem in building structure and protective performance. Originally, Chen Xin buried the main body of the shelter so deep mainly to deal with meteorite impact and various disasters that followed.

Now that the disaster has passed, there is no need to live so underground.

As for water, electricity, heating and air filtration facilities, Chen Xin separated them from the main part of the building and set up a separate space for placing them, so that these equipment will no longer be placed in the main area of the shelter, and no problems will affect the residents in the shelter.

After some adjustments, it can be said that the overall planning of the shelter makes the functional distinction clearer, and several new production and living facilities have been added, and the functions have been improved.

However, looking at the shelter layout that seemed a bit messy, Chen Xin felt that it should be adjusted.

Although there is no need to worry about the difficulty of construction and insufficient space, the planning of the entire shelter should be made more reasonable.

Thinking of this, Chen Xin remembered a video I had seen before about the Federal Richies using abandoned missile silos to transform the shelter. The shelter in the missile silos was really good. It was very satisfactory in terms of comfort and function improvement, and the design was very reasonable.

So after thinking about it, Chen Xin decided to re-adjust his shelter layout.

First of all, there is no need to spread out and arrange the newly added functional areas of the shelter. They can be stacked completely. The entire shelter is designed into a multi-layer structure, and it can be used to go up and down through elevators and stairs. This not only makes the building layout compact, but also more convenient and practical.

After all, in the shelter, going up and down stairs and turning several corridors is a completely different experience.

In addition, Chen Xin also plans to adjust the current square shelter structure into a circle, imitating the shelter transformed from a missile launch silo.

This is not to say that Chen Xin is plagiarizing or imitating it, but because the circle has a relatively higher space utilization rate and can be more convenient for layout.

Of course, there is another point that the structural strength of the circular structure is stronger and more material-saving. Of course, Chen Xin doesn’t need to care so much about this.

So after some adjustments, the entire shelter became a multi-story cylindrical structure, which still connects the entrance of the shelter through the corridor, but it no longer needs to go down dozens of meters through the elevator before entering the shelter.

Instead, you can directly reach the first floor of the main body of the shelter, and then go down to the lower floor through an elevator or staircase located in the center of the circular structure.

As for the main part of the shelter, Chen Xin separated the functional facilities of the living room, kitchen and hot spring bathroom that were originally connected to the bedroom, and placed them separately on other floors, while the bedrooms were concentrated on the first floor to increase the living area.

After this adjustment, everyone can have a single room and a more comfortable bed, and no longer have to sleep in high and low beds.
