Chapter 148 The Buddha's Debate
Chapter 147 Buddhist Debate
The old monk hesitated and said: "Judging from the donor's writing style and words, he is definitely not a Buddhist. The donor's thoughts are not limited to the scriptures. It is extremely rare for him to reach this state of self-enlightenment."
"From the perspective of the poor monk, the benefactor has stepped on the threshold of attaining the Dao. There is only one step away from attaining the Dao. If you advance to the pure land, if you retreat, you will reach the mundane world. However, this step is as difficult as ascending to heaven."
Xie Yudun felt guilty, knowing that Mian Nian was a real master and that he had just read more scriptures and said some fallacious theories.
Immediately he said seriously: "Thanks to the master's instructions, I am ashamed! Ashamed! Buddhism talks about the word 'destiny'. The fate between me and the Buddha is over when I stand on the threshold. If I can't get in or get out, it is both evil and good."
"As far as the Buddha is concerned, I cannot attain enlightenment."
"Master, I can tell what kind of thing I am from that poem. The whole page is filled with the word 'anger'."
"Today I came to the Pure Land of Buddhism to pay homage to the Master. I am lucky enough for three lifetimes. I don't dare to disturb you. I will leave now."
The old monk continued: "The donor did not go up the mountain to practice Buddhism. If you have something to ask, you might as well tell me. Although the poor monk has failed in his studies, he can still recite 'Amitabha'."
Xie Yu thought for a while and said: "This junior is here to ask for advice from the master. He is looking for someone. In fact, it is not necessarily a search for a person. He is just looking for a result that the junior does not know himself. I just want peace of mind."
The old monk said: "With the understanding of the benefactor, how can we find peace of mind if we do what we want to do?"
Xie Yu said: "The Buddha is the one who has no confession and no guilt. The juniors are just ordinary people who are just trying to learn a few words and have no attainment at all."
"Why is the master a master? Good night, I think he is the enlightened one who speaks on behalf of the Buddha."
The old monk thought for a while and said: "The poor monk is a Buddhist student. He can never speak for the Buddha, nor is he a master. The poor monk cannot bear the word 'begging' from the donor. He only observes the truth about the principles of cultivation, so he sends it to him."
Four words for the donor: pure and comfortable."
Xie Yu clasped his hands together, performed a respectful Buddhist salute to the old monk, and said, "Thank you, Master!"
The old monk suddenly asked Xie Yu: "I don't know what the donor thinks of it: "Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism."
The old monk asked the question abruptly, so Xie Yu thought for a moment before replying: "Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism are all broad and profound schools of thought. They have supported the Chinese people through thousands of years of civilization. They are great civilizations."
"However, society is developing. After all, traditional culture is a culture that presupposes the emperor's grace. It talks about nothingness, inaction, and the doctrine of the mean, and seeks to survive by suppressing individuality."
At this point, Xie Yu paused for a moment and hesitated to speak, because Xie Yu knew that some words were not suitable for this era.
But the old monk said again: "It's not good that the donor hasn't spoken freely yet."
"The sea embraces hundreds of rivers. Even if the donor is a drop in the ocean, I, the Buddha, am willing to merge it into one."
"Today I have a destiny, so I should ask the donor to speak openly and honestly, so as to facilitate the practice of Buddhism."
Xie Yu thought for a long time and said: "The dialectical thinking of the younger generation who admires the ultimate truth of Buddhism is so incredible."
"However, younger generations think that Buddhism includes Buddhist Dharma, and Dharma is different from Buddhism."
"Buddhism uses the Buddha's Dharma to realize oneness, and then to realize the ultimate truth. Ultimately, it is to find a reason for the heart not to suffer, to become a Buddha, to have infinite life, and to be blissful."
"Buddhism uses the method of false truth to live in the phase of blessing, longevity, and fruit. It is the self-grasping of Taiji with the name of non-attachment and selflessness, which has caused Buddhism to have the weak cultural characteristics of superstition, fate, and greed.
Obscuring the Dharma."
"The younger generation believes that if Buddhism can break away from its own obstacles according to the Buddha's teachings, achieve liberation regardless of the individual, and use the inconceivable ultimate productivity and the truth of civilization through the Buddhist teachings, then the Buddhism of the Buddhist teachings, that is, the Buddhism that renounces religion, will become the Mahayana method for enlightening all sentient beings.
"Saving, wisdom, discipline, and benefiting people's livelihood is called universal salvation of all sentient beings."
After saying this, Xie Yu also regretted a little. These words should not have been said, especially in front of a Buddhist, but it was also what Xie Yu was thinking, and it was also the main reason why he abandoned Buddhism and turned to Taoism.
The old monk was silent and looked at Xie Yu quietly. After a long time, he sighed sadly: "To gain wisdom is to gain wisdom, to beg for alms, to burn incense, to sit in meditation."
Xie Yu said harmoniously: "Everyone does what he can, and everyone takes what he needs."
The old monk was indeed a enlightened person, so he was not angry. Instead, he wrote a few words and sent them to Xie Yu. After receiving them respectfully, Xie Yu only replied with a poem:
Only when you understand the Tao can you know your destiny,
In practice, one must learn from the true scriptures.
A lifetime of destruction and prosperity,
All are destined by fate.
Later, the old monk explained: "This 'Heaven' is not the other 'Heaven', it is not the heaven where all living beings are ignorant, nor is it the destiny of all living beings who are ignorant. This is the Heaven of Tao, and cause and effect are not false, so the word "Fang Zhi" was changed."
"Practice without negative consequences may have faith but no evidence, but it is already enlightenment without evidence, which is already progress."
"The sutra that can make the deluded person progress is the true sutra, and the true sutra must be taken."
"There is no distinction between sorrow and joy. When it comes, it comes, and when it goes, it goes. They are all determined by causes and conditions. They follow your heart, your strength, and your fate."
The old monk casually changed the word "xiuyan" in the original sentence to "fangzhi", the word "don't" in the original sentence to "wu", and the word "sadness and joy" in the original sentence to "life and death".
”, changing “which past life” in the original sentence to “all have causes and conditions”.
Although the principles of the nine-character changes are the same, the meaning, artistic conception, and spirit are completely different. That is to eliminate anger, self-arrogance, and point to the end.
Xie Yu thought to himself: "Exquisite! The realm of nine characters can be proved without proof."
Xie Yu once again performed a respectful Buddhist salute to the old monk and said, "Thank you, Master, for your enlightenment."
The old monk continued: "The relationship between the poor monk and the donor has been perfected today. I hope the donor can correct the mistakes in the nine characters of the poor monk."
"The poor monk will not change the relationship, leaving half of the relationship to be continued. If the donor wants to change the relationship on a certain day in a certain year, if he does not give up, he can come back with the changed relationship to continue the relationship of half the relationship.
.”
Xie Yucheng said sincerely: "Thanks to the master, I will never give up."
The old monk continued: "The donor has three qi in his body."
Xie Yu immediately asked: "What three qi?"
The old monk replied: "There are three parts of calmness, three parts of nobility, and three parts of murderousness."
Xie Yu hesitated for a moment, then bowed his hands to the old monk and saluted, saying: "I don't dare to disturb the master, I will take my leave."
After thanking Yu, he turned around and left. However, when Xie Yu was about to arrive at the door, the old monk said again: "What the donor has in mind can be seen at the monks and nuns alliance conference."
Xie Yu paused slightly and left quickly without saying a word.
On the way back, Xie Yu still felt a little incredible. He actually had a Buddhist debate without any opinions. He argued from the heart, and the old monk argued from the rules. Although he took the wrong approach, he was not at a disadvantage, but he knew that he was
Lost.
Xie Yu's meaning in writing this poem is that I can obtain the true scriptures in the mortal world, but you may not understand the meaning of practice in Buddhism. This is Xie Yu's "arrogance" because of his achievements in practice.
Maybe Xie Yu can win in terms of force, but in the spiritual world, Xie Yu is already at a disadvantage because Xie Yu "betrayed" himself.
Xie Yu knew that he was a little too "arrogant", and he was not a Buddhist monk, so why should he ridicule monks?
Xie Yu is already a mortal, what makes him superior to others? Is it this "Heavenly Gate Divine General"?
