Bam evaluation

Bam has been bought for a while, and just finished reading a whole book with it. Basically, he was running around Shanghai with this thing, and it felt pretty good.

Bam is much lighter than I thought, 282 grams, which is not much heavier than my iPhone 3gs and shell film. It feels very good to hold it in your hand. The metal panel on the back and the plastic material on the front feel above the level. It feels better than the e-books of Hanwang that I have used before.

The biggest use of e-books is that they can read for a long time in various occasions. Although they can read books on a mobile phone, the number of words displayed on a single page is too large and the number of pages is broken. In addition, reading on mobile phones is too power-consuming. The standby time of bam is relatively long. Because of the use of eink technology, there is no need to turn on the switch. Just close the lock key and throw it on the side when you don't use it. The page turn speed of electronic ink technology is not very fast, but it does not affect the continuity of reading. The speed is acceptable. After continuous page turning, some residual traces can be found. However, some online comments say that they can directly read the content of the previous page based on the residue, which is really a mess.

It's faded. The residuals basically do not affect reading. The e-book settings will automatically refresh the full screen for a period of time, and the residual problems are solved well. The biggest benefit of bam is that it can read books in a bright environment or even under the sun. In this case, the mobile phone is a cup, and no matter how strong the mobile phone is, it doesn't work. But bam feels very good in the sun, and the reflection is very gentle and not dazzling at all. Purely from the reading feeling under direct sunlight, bam is better than the book itself. Nowadays, book papers use beige-based printing paper with relatively high cost, and most of them are still bleached white paper. The reflections under the sun are really dazzling.

After binding to the account, 199 books and nearly 40,000 chapters were synchronized for an hour. The books I read with bam are more comfortable than those I see on the web. The chapters, due to the anti-pirated technology, are all pictures. Everyone has criticized this for a long time, but there is no solution. Now I have completed the subscription on it and then synced it to the e-book. The font and single page display word count are much more comfortable than the web page. As for bam's comment function, I didn't try it too much, and I really don't catch a lot of fun with the t9 input method.

Bam is nominally able to standby for two consecutive weeks, which is definitely an ideal state. Now, it takes 3 to 5 hours to read books every day. It is basically all the traffic time in the city, as well as some of the waiting time in the cafe, public places, and the total time on the pillow at home. It has been more than ten days since I bought it, and I only charged it once. Basically, under daily use, it is fine to use it for one week. During this period, I use wifi at home to synchronize the works, and there is no problem of deliberately saving electricity.

I am used to holding the bam with my left hand for reading, and I feel that the asymmetric design of the bam makes me a little painful. After holding it for a long time, the lower left corner of the e-book shell is in the palm of my hand, which is not very comfortable. If this corner can be more rounded, it would be better. When holding it with the right hand, the five-dimensional navigation key used to turn the page is too low, making turning the page not very convenient. In addition, no matter whether it is held by the left and right hand, the number input keys and navigation keypads placed in the lowered number input keypads are easy to touch by mistake. Anyway, the number input keypads do not have any functions, and it is not much to touch them. It is more troublesome to touch the navigation keypads by mistake. You have to press them two or three times to return to the original reading page. From a practical point of view, the application frequency of these keys is not high. If they can be placed on the border of the bam, it may be better if they are placed on the top or bottom of the place that is not easy to touch on the front.

The built-in system is a little uncomfortable to use. The main reason is that the menu cannot be grouped. If there are too many books, it is very troublesome to find it. You have to turn it page after page. It is not easy to manage after importing your own information books. The support for pictures and PDFs is poor, and the e-book production tools cannot import pdfs with mixed pictures and texts or scanned versions of e-books, so it is even less important to use them to read comics. The openness of e-books is relatively poor.

In general, for plain text reading, for those who are reading, bam is a good thing above the level and can bring surprises to use.
