Chapter 7 Buddha Statues

"What do you think? Although this statue is majestic, it won't be staring at it for so long, right?" Mu Clepton pointed at Zhao Zimainu and signaled him to look at the mulberry in the hall.

Zhao Zimai smiled bitterly, "Since the rosary was broken, it has always been this dull and dull look. Sometimes I even doubt whether Sang is really back, but," he glanced at Mu Cuzi, "Senior should feel grateful, at least she won't throw you under the cliff from time to time."

After saying that, he also walked into the hall, stood beside Sang, and looked up at the statue of Guan Gong more than ten feet tall in front of him. After looking at it for a while, he asked, "Great God, what are you looking at?"

"I think the statue is dressed fancy."

A straightforward sentence made Zhao Zimai almost laugh out loud. It was the first time he had heard someone use "fancy" to describe the Martial Saint as a saint. He had been so calm for a while, and finally, in a tone that sounded calm, "The Emperor Guan is a tiger general who is the enemy of thousands of people. He is proud of the superiors but does not regret the inferiors. He has clear grudges and respects, and the most important thing is trustworthiness. However, according to my humble opinion, he is slightly insufficient in wisdom, so he was defeated and lost his life in vain."

Sang glanced at him, "It's not as easy as you said."

Zhao Zimai lowered his eyes and smiled, a light oozing in his eyes, "I really recognize such a wise and brave person, and he happens to live in Maocheng. If I have the chance, I will lead you to meet him, and you will know that I am not lying."

"who is he?"

"His name is Xu Chong, and he used to be my father's disciple."

"My father often said that Xu Chong was one of the smartest people he had ever met, because Xu Chong had a pair of eyes that were different from ordinary people, and had eyes that were clear about everything. When Xu Chong was in the capital, he repeatedly solved strange cases, and even gained the appreciation of the current emperor for a case, and gave him the only Shangfang sword of this dynasty."

"Oh? What kind of case is it?" A glimmer suddenly appeared in Sang Huan's eyes that had been scattered for a few days.

Zhao Zimai looked at it seriously for a while before grinning, "I heard from my father when I was young."

The late emperor once ordered people to cast a statue of purple-copper and gold Buddha, Amitabha Buddha, as a gift for the Queen Mother's birthday. However, the entire casting process was said to have taken a lot of effort, because the ministers of the Construction Office did not know about the method of the purple-copper configuration.

The late emperor then sent the minister of the management office to Xihuang Temple to ask the Panchen Lama how to convert purple gold and copper by his side during his sixth lifetime. However, the result was disappointing. According to the Sechen Lama, this kind of purple gold and copper was not made by Tibetan craftsmen, but by Nepal craftsmen.

The minister of the Craft Office hurriedly asked the officer Lama to look for Nepalese craftsmen far away in Tibet. After half a year of waiting, a recipe was brought back from far away Tibet. The craftsmen of the Craft Office used this recipe to create the first bronze statue of Amitabha Buddha's own gold. The proportion of materials was one kilogram of red copper, three qian gold, six qian silver, three liang of natural copper, two qian copper, two qian copper, two qian tin, lead, and mercury, and five qian of five-color glass surface.

But even so, the quality of the refined Buddha statues was still not ideal, but the late emperor did not give up. He said that if you can't give this gift this year, you can give it to the next year and you can't give it to the next year, so wait a few more years. Anyway, the emperor's birthday and Tianqi are not far from that of these three or five years. So the Creation Office built 61 Buddha statues in seven years, but unfortunately, when each one was sent to the late emperor, he shook his head and retreated.

It was not until ten years ago that the Kingdom of Luoluo paid tribute to ten taels of diamonds suitable for red copper. So the craftsmen in the court experimented on the original formula and finally determined the final formula of purple gold and copper. That is, in the original formula, five cents of diamond diamonds, removed tin, lead and mercury. This formula made the color of purple gold and copper more brilliant, and the Amitabha Buddha, which represents wisdom and life, was finally cast in the year when the Empress Dowager passed away.

After the Empress Dowager returned to the west, the late emperor was extremely sad. He enshrines the Buddha statue in the warm pavilion where the Empress Dowager lived during his lifetime, as his son's memory of his mother. However, before entering the pavilion, the Buddha statue must be consecrated first, so the late emperor handed it over to the Abbot of Tianning Temple.

Tianning Temple is located on the top of the mountain in the suburbs of Beijing. It was originally named "Guanglin Temple". The temple was destroyed by war in the late Yuan Dynasty. The temple was rebuilt by Ming Dynasty. It was renamed "Tian'an Temple" during the Xuande period. It was the only large temple in the capital. The presidency of the temple, and the abbot of the temple, was deeply wise and honest. He was a virtuous monk respected by everyone.

Therefore, this Amitabha Buddha, which embodies the infinite grief of the late emperor, was handed over to Abbot Chiruo to consecrate himself, and it took a total of seven days.

It is enshrined in the meditation room of Abbot Chiruo, and he completed the entire ceremony alone. Of course, just in case, there are heavy troops outside the Tianning Temple to prevent outsiders from entering.

However, even though the defense measures were so strict, accidents still happened.

On the third day, the little novice monk who delivered food to Abbot Chiruo found that no one responded to the call, so he found several senior brothers and officers and soldiers stationed outside the temple. After several people opened the door, they were surprised to find that there was no one in the Zen room. Not only was there no one, but even the Amitabha Buddha made of purple gold and copper did not know where to go.

The officers and soldiers immediately suspected that Abbot Chiruo escaped with the Buddha statue, but this statement was strongly opposed by the monks in the temple, and both sides almost fought for it. Because Abbot Chiruo was a respected monk, the monks naturally did not allow others to humiliate him, let alone criticizing him as a thief who stole money.

The two sides were in a stalemate, and finally caused this to the late emperor. After hearing the cause and effect of the matter, the late emperor said two points: First, he absolutely believed in the personality of the abbot, and believed that he would never do such a stealing thing; second, this matter must be investigated strictly, because the Buddha statue was a birthday gift he had given out in the future, representing his filial piety, so he had to find it back no matter what.

So, he personally sent someone to Tianning Temple, and that person was Xu Chong.
