Chapter 181: Between Father and Son
The governor and his wife quietly came to Pasadena without notifying anyone. Theoretically, the governor and his wife should be on vacation somewhere at this time.
As Earl Warren said to Evan, he came to Los Angeles specifically.
Their arrival only informed Evan alone, and even Virginia in Los Angeles was not aware of it.
The Pattons and his sons will be there because Evan's recent actions are related to them.
Audrey was brought over by Evan, which was Evan's selfishness.
The California Polytechnic campus on Saturday was indeed a little deserted than usual, but there were still many pedestrians on the road. However, Evan still strolled around the campus with his parents, without any concerns about being recognized.
Evan and Earl walked ahead, Audrey and Nina were two steps behind, and communicated intimately.
The conversation between father and son is not as vivid as that of the prospective mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.
Their status is not so much an interaction, but rather Evan is being questioned by Earl.
Earl asked: "Will you decide to enter the banking industry? Or did Allen Sproul give advice?"
"It's my autocracy," Evan said.
Earl asked: "Why? Do you know the banking industry well?"
"I've learned that your companies are very prosperous, and you are still a student at school... don't you think you're too anxious?"
"Evan, tell me, you are running a factory, doing research in school, and opening a bank. So many things are piled up together, which thing is what you really want to do?"
"Evan, human energy is limited, it is impossible to cover everything. The score is the primary and secondary when doing things. Be careful not to lose control and end up in a waste of money."
Evan naturally had to explain Earl's questions clearly, otherwise he would be sorry for his care and help in the acquisition of the bank.
"Dear Father, I'm sorry for worrying you."
"To be honest, I don't know much more about the bank than you. However, entering the banking industry was not my whim, but I was preparing for it long ago."
"Of course, there is indeed a certain occasional factor in entering at this time. Because it is not common for a bank to go bankrupt."
"You ask me what I really want to do, but in fact, all of this I do is what I want to do."
Earl asked, “Become a businessman?”
Evan shook his head and said, "This word is not accurate enough."
"Father, you should know the last names of Rockefeller and Morgan, right?"
Earl looked at Evan in surprise when he heard this, "Of course, one is the king of oil and the other is the overlord of Wall Street, well-known."
"They are legends on this land of America."
"Evan, you aim for them... It's not that I don't believe you, it's just that it's too ambitious, isn't it?"
"Maybe..." Evan smiled disapprovingly at Earl's reaction and said, "That won't prevent me from setting them as the targets in my heart, right?"
"You should understand what the power of Rockefeller and Morgan are like a spider. They both have banks as the core and build a network of enterprises covering finance, utilities, industrial manufacturing and services. This system is a consortium."
"My goal is to build a consortium with Warren as the surname."
"Father, you may not think that I am talking big. Just because I am producing toys, one producing medical bandages, and the other producing small electrical appliances. These three factories and a small bank, how can one day be called a consortium?"
"I want to say that this is indeed a small goal, but I have confidence."
Seeing that his son was not like he was talking nonsense, Earl asked, "Why?"
Just then, the father and son came to the vicinity of the Physics Mathematics and Electronic Engineering Building. Evan pointed to the floor of the laboratory he founded and said, "It belongs to Warren Leiden Laboratory, which is my confidence."
Earl obviously knew his son's research. When Evan said this, he asked: "Why are you so confident about the prospects of transistors? This is contrary to the rigor that a researcher should have."
Evan said confidently: "Because I hold the truth in my hand."
"Just like gravity, although you can't see it, it is real. In my eyes, the future of transistors is the same."
"The changes to the world that extend from it will not be much inferior to those of steam engines, internal combustion engines and electricity."
Although Evan's tone was so firm, Earl frowned after hearing this.
"Evan, it's a good thing to be confident, but don't be proud."
"Maybe your view of the future is right. After all, you are the inventor of transistors, but why do you ensure that you and your team can be at the forefront of transistor applications?"
"Because I have the knowledge that the future has been written in textbooks in my head, and with my guidance, the team can get the most and most correct results with the least funding in R&D..."
This is the real reason, and Evan's confidence lies.
Of course, Evan cannot state this reason clearly, so Evan used another statement when answering Earl.
"Father, your concerns are reasonable, but they are unnecessary to me. In my imagination, the company that has not yet appeared in transistors will be an important member of the consortium. If I even surpassed the technology I invented by others, then the consortium will naturally not have to think about it anymore."
"When doing things, I will only plan the future without anyone surpassing myself. The invention of transistors requires huge investment from laboratory to industrial production. Therefore, in the past few years, I will rely on state funds to promote it in college."
"When it's almost time, it's time for the company to take over."
Earl easily understood Evan's plans, "But, in your plans, it seems that this bank does not need to appear?"
"Father, this bank has its own meaning," Evan explained.
"As a consortium, a bank needs to serve as a blood transfusion center. Of course, its size is far from being called a blood transfusion center. However, just like my age, they are all growing. I believe that when the size of a bank grows to a certain level, it will naturally come in handy."
Earl was silent for a while and suddenly asked, "Do you don't trust other banks?"
Evan said: "If I just want to be an ordinary entrepreneur, it doesn't matter whether I trust or not. But I want my company to move forward at my pace, including banks. There must be many decisions in this regard that seem to be huge, and ordinary banks will retreat."
