Chapter 108: The whole city is blocked

The rich people smell wine and meat, and the road is frozen to death. Although Chang'an City is the world's largest metropolis, there are also unknown slums in such cities.

Yanzuofang is a place where the poor gather in Chang'an City. The sanitary conditions here are poor, mosquitoes and flies are scattered, and residents can eat enough, but their living conditions are very poor.

There were five people hiding here. These five people were trying to abduct Li Xing's people at noon.

These five people specialize in trafficking in people. They have a very good name called "Flower Shooting". What is "Flower Shooting"? It is "Flower Trafficking"? "These people have a very special medicine powder in their hands, which is also a unique skill.

As long as these people patted the child's forehead with their hands (some say they were blown with a kind of drug powder), the child became fascinated and his eyes became "blurred". On the left, right and behind, there were lions, tigers and mountain streams. Only the person in front had a way, so they would only follow this person and were abducted. Because they were slapped, they were called "flower-slapping".

However, these medicine powders can only be effective for younger children. Li Xing is ten years old and the medicine powder is useless, so these people are robbing it.

Many people will definitely ask that in the living environment of the ancients, they still needed to traffick children. There were too many children and there was no need to traffick at all, because in ancient times, human trafficking was indeed a bit reasonable.

For example, in the early Western Han Dynasty, due to war and famine, the Central Plains and Guanzhong generation lacked food and clothing, and hunger was everywhere, and many poor people could not afford to raise their children. Therefore, Emperor Gaozu of Han, Liu Bang, had to encourage and advocate the people's "selling children and selling girls" and regarded it as a means to save the famine, because in this way, children from poor families could get food to wealthy families. At that time, there were fewer wars in Sichuan and harvests year after year. Emperor Gaozu of Han encouraged poor families to sell their children there, which was "Emperor Gaozu ordered the people to sell their children and eat Shu Han."

However, life was better later, especially in Chang'an, even if you can have enough food in the slums, why do you have to sell children? However, trafficking in humans is too profitable, and many people will take risks, so this extends the law.

It is okay for you to sell human beings, but "selling" and "snatching" are considered illegal activities. "snatching" refers to buying ordinary civilians or their children through various deceptive means such as threats and inducement, and then selling them. This is the same as today's trafficking of human beings; and "snatching" is what we usually call kidnapping, plundering the population, and then selling them. The nature of this criminal act is even more serious.

Since ancient times, trafficking of people has been a serious crime. The laws written on paper by dynasties in history have punished "slight selling of people".

Since the Eastern Han Dynasty, the law clearly stated that this was a serious crime, and it was a crime of trafficking, including robbery, killing and injuring people, and robbing graves, and was sentenced to death (after beheading and splitting the body). The legislation of later dynasties basically followed this kind of provision, but the severity of the punishment was different.

Among them, the Tang Dynasty was the most severe legislation. During the Li Shimin period, special human traffickers appeared, namely flower shooters, and they even established many industry rules.

It’s because the benefits are too great, which makes Li Shimin very troubled.

So, unlike the modern law of human traffickers, the Tang Dynasty law stipulates: "Those who sell people and sell people as slaves will be stolen; those who become subordinates will travel for three thousand miles; those who are wives, concubines, and descendants will be stolen for three years."
