Overture set sail

August 6, 2006, Beijing.

It was already ten o'clock in the evening, and the office of the Youth Development Department of the Chinese Football Association was still brightly lit.

Yi Zhong, director of the Development Department, habitually lit a cigarette, and his nose and mouth kept spitting smoke rings.

Xiao Cai, who was sitting aside to sort out the information, looked up at Yi Zhong and smiled and said, "Director Yi, you have been waiting for more than an hour. Are you so anxious?"

"No, it's better for our national youth team to win the group and schedule of the Asian Youth Championship the day earlier! The last Asian Youth Championship was because we were too slow, which led to insufficient preparations for many links, delaying the big fighter's opportunity;"

"It also makes the team in a very unfavorable situation after entering the finals, and almost missed the World Youth Championship. Well, the team was actually stopped in the 1/8 finals, and it was also unrelated to the Asian Youth Championship. It was really slow, slow step by step."

He wanted to continue to tell the sad past, but the fax machine beside him rang, and three pieces of paper popped up in ten seconds.

Yi Zhong hurriedly picked up the paper and looked at it, and had no time to pay attention to Xiao Cai.

Materials sent back from the AFC's location, Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, show that China is divided into Group H as a seed team, and the Philippines, Bangladesh and Bahrain are also in the same group.

After seeing it, Yi Zhong took a deep breath of cigarettes and then extinguished the cigarette butts in the ashtray.

He blinked and said, "The grouping situation is OK, just Bahrain is a little difficult task. But it seems that time has come. October and November this year are qualifiers, and the finals will be held in Japan in January and February next year. Do these guys, do you know that they can stand this intensive schedule?"

Xiao Cai said: "Director Yi, don't worry so much. These players have experienced the baptism of the intensity of a week's double-game in the club. They are the players with high quality that have emerged in recent years. There is no big problem with dealing with these mere qualifiers."

Yi Zhong nodded and said to Xiao Cai: "Please give this material to the office later and ask them to inform the team members to gather and start preparing for the qualifiers of the Asian Youth Championship. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. The first step taken by the new 08 Star must take steady steps!"

The World Youth Championship, as the most important youth event in the world, has now grown into the most important world event in the field of youth under the age of 21. FIFA also intends to change its name to "FIFA u20 World Cup", which can be named as the prestigious World Cup name, which shows the importance it attaches to this event.

The World Youth Championship is held every two years, and the last one was held in the Netherlands in 2005. Due to the Chinese team's brilliant performance, it has become the most impressive World Youth Championship for the Chinese.

Next year's World Youth Championship has been held in Spain, and it will be held in June and July.

There are 3 places to be allocated to Asia for this event.

As the Asian qualifiers for the World Youth Championship, the Asian Youth Championship is intended to select the three teams in the best shape for Asia and win honors for the Asian region. The scale of the competition is also quite large.

There are 4 more teams enrolled in this year's Asian Youth Championship than the previous session, reaching 38 (including Japan and Saudi Arabia that directly advanced).

Referring to the principles of the previous competition system, the host Japanese team in the final stage of the Asian Youth Championship and the last Asian Youth Championship champion Saudi team will not participate in the qualifiers and will directly advance to the final stage;

The other 36 teams are divided into 9 groups, using a round-robin home and away game, and the top two teams in each group are directly qualified;

The third place in the 4 best-achieved group can also qualify, with a total of 22 teams advancing to the finals.

The final stage of the competition adopts the cup system, and the competition mode is the same as the World Youth Championship. The 24 teams are divided into six groups. Each group has the top two points and 4 best-scoring third place in the group is shortlisted for the top 16, the championship, the Asian and third place in the World Youth Championship.
