Chapter 5(1/2)

2018, summer

———

Meng Yun woke up in the morning and a few rays of sunlight penetrated through the cracks in the wooden window. The dust floated in the light, as hazy as a thin golden gauze.

The hut that was still gloomy last night was sunny and was covered with a simple and old atmosphere. Even the smell of humid wood in the air became quite ancient.

When I opened the wooden window, the edges of the window were creaking. The green mountain wind blew in my face.

Above the blue-gray tiles, green mountains and blue sky is like washing.

This is a courtyard with a square yard. The courtyard is paved with bluestone slabs in the center. There is a white gray tiled screen wall in the south. There is a landscape on the wall and a pomegranate tree beside the wall. There is a bright red pomegranate flowers, and unformed fruits are raised on the stems.

A tree is lush with branches and leaves, facing three small wooden buildings in the east and west and north. The small building is a typical southwest house. The main hall on the first floor is spacious and is located along a narrow ladder, with a low attic.

The small building where Meng Yun lives is on the west side of the pomegranate tree, across the patio, and the window is opened directly opposite the attic. In the shadow, it can be seen that the bed inside is neatly laid with a few white T-shirts on the clothes rack, which should be Chen Yue's room. There is also a cat curled up on the ground.

Meng Yun was surprised and couldn't tell that Chen Yue could raise a cat.

As for the small building north of the pomegranate tree, the gate was closed and there was no one in the attic, so I got up early and went out.

She was looking at it and heard footsteps. The door of the east wing hall was open, and Chen Yue walked out. He raised his eyes and saw Meng Yun lying beside the attic window and watching the scenery.

The two looked at each other for a few seconds, and no one said hello.

Several sparrows flew to the pomegranate treetops and jumped for a while.

Meng Yunchen was in a good mood and spoke first: "It's time to go to school, right?"

Chen Yue looked at his cell phone and said, "No hurry."

It was eight forty, and Meng Yun speculated that his words "No hurry" were purely polite, so she made a gesture: "Give me a fifteen minutes to wash up."

Chen Yue replied: "Is fifteen minutes enough?"

Meng Yun suspected that he suggested that she was getting up too late, but his tone was quite ordinary and his expression was very plain. He knew that he thought too much and said, "Enough."

Chen Yue returned to the house and sat at the wooden table and turned on the computer to check the data.

I heard the small building opposite, and the girl ran up and down the stairs. The water flowed in the bathroom, and the floor in the attic creaked. Then, it became quiet.

Several birds are chirping.

Chen Yue's mobile phone alarm rang, and it was fifteen minutes later. He turned off the computer and stuffed it into his backpack, locking the door.

Meng Yunye was ready. Her long hair was tied into a high ponytail, combed without any leakage, and she had exquisite nude makeup, her eyebrows were clear and her cheeks looked like peach petals.

She was wearing a pretty dress, a golden brown bag, and sequin high heels on her feet. She stood gracefully in front of the large carved wooden door with mottled logs. At first glance, she was out of place with the environment, but when she looked at it, she felt a kind of harmony in contrast.

Chen Yue thought about whether to tell her, she was a little exaggerated.

But considering that if she still had the same temper in college, it would be better for him to remain silent; and according to his observation of her small account on the Internet two months ago, her temper should have become worse over the years.

Chen Yue walked across the patio, stepped onto the steps, and handed her two keys: "The small one is this door, and the big one is the corner door outside."

Meng Yun turned around and faced the four large carved wooden doors. She crossed the threshold, closed the two doors, and said, "Isn't this an antique? Do you want to pay if you break it?"

Chen Yue replied: "It's not an antique. You have to pay for it."

"If you want to pay, I'll be gentle." Meng Yun laughed, put the chain through the door handle, preparing for the padlock. But she was small and couldn't catch the chain. The two doors were originally a little inward and opened automatically, and dragged the chains to get out of her hand.

"Hey—" She grabbed her hands, "What are you running?"

Chen Yue leaned forward and reached out to catch the chain. The two doors opened inside were steadily in place. In a hurry, Meng Yun grabbed the back of his hand with one hand. He clenched his fist tightly. The back of his hand was fleshy and powerful, with a warm and hard touch. She quickly moved her hand away, and then she realized that he was catching the chain sideways, and his chest was very close to her.

He didn't seem to like this too close distance, so he took away the lock in her hand, blocked her back sideways, and separated her from her.

Meng Yun took a step back, looked at him locked, and saw that his nails were trimmed short and clean.

Lock the door and walk through the patio.

The sound of cat claws scratching from the window of Chen Yue's attic came. A small tabby cat crawled out, stood on the eaves, with its tail upright, and looked down at Meng Yun.

Meng Yun said: "You still keep a cat?"

Chen Yue said: "She stayed there."

Meng Yun said: "Do you have a name?"

Chen Yue paused for a moment and said, "Yunduo."

"Good sound." Meng Yun said, and the cat jumped gently and jumped onto the beam of the small building in the north, and disappeared.

Meng Yun asked again: "Who lives in this room?"

Chen Yue said: "The secretary of the town."

Meng Yun asked: "Men's and female?"

Chen Yue replied: "Male."

Meng Yun asked: "What's the name?"

Chen Yue said: "Cypress."

Meng Yun asked: "The surname is Bai?"

Chen Yue said: "Yes."

He locked the corner door of the yard, and Meng Yun sighed: "The surnames of Yunnan people are so rare."

Chen Yue said: "He is from Gansu."

"...Oh." Meng Yun guessed that it might be a minority.

Vans, tricycles and motorcycles were parked neatly at the door.

He opened the door of the van and looked for something inside. Finally, he turned out a black equipment bag and placed it on the wooden board behind the tricycle, saying, "You can sit on the bag."

He meant he didn't want her clothes to get dirty.

Meng Yun didn't even sit down, and inserted a straw into the milk box and asked, "What kind of ethnic minority are you?"

Chen Yue glanced at her.

Meng Yun's eyes looked at him.

"Han nationality." Chen Yueren had his back to her.

"..." She didn't believe it yet, "How do I remember being a minority? I remember that there is one in our class."

Chen Yue said: "Your roommate Zhu Xiaoman."

Meng Yun: “…”

Indeed, Zhu Xiaoman belongs to Enshi, Tujia. She is a very gentle and quiet girl. Meng Yun didn't know where the memory came from. She vaguely felt that Chen Yue had a crush on Zhu Xiaoman when he was in college. He mentioned it now and wanted to ask for a joke, but this person was not a joke personality, so she didn't say it.

The tricycle bumped along the winding brick and tile road, bypassing the houses and hillsides, and heading towards the school below.

On both sides of the road, the summer scenery is grand. The branches are full of purple-red flowers; the flowers of the year are like the small sun in the sky, covering the bushes; the trees are tall and large, with dense red buds hanging on the crown of the tree like lanterns; the phoenix flowers growing higher are like fire, burning at the junction of the mountains and forests and the blue sky.

Qinglin Town is very beautiful, with no bricks and tiles. It is full of wooden houses with three bedrooms and one screen wall. It is laid high and low on the hillside, covered by lush and green trees.

There was a rustling sound on the hillside, and a little black squirrel jumped to the middle of the road, holding his claws and looking left and right.

Meng Yun was excited: "Squirrel."

The squirrel was frightened and rushed into the bushes and disappeared.

Meng Yun turned around: "Chen Yue, there is a squirrel."

Chen Yue said: "It's very common."

"..." Meng Yun said, "It's common, why don't you keep one?"

Her tone was a little provocative.

Chen Yue said: "There are indeed a few that I go to my windowsill to play every now and then."

Meng Yun has nothing to say now.

Farmland appears on the roadside, planted with green crops.

She was interested: "What's the growth in that field, are potatoes?"

"pumpkin."

"That's a cucumber, right?"

"tomato."

"I know that taro!"

Chen Yue: "Potato."

Meng Yun stopped looking at crops. After a few seconds, he asked: "How long have you been a teacher here?"

Chen Yue said: "I'm not a teacher."

Meng Yun narrowed his eyes slightly in the morning breeze: "What do you say?"

"I've entered Zhongx Group." Chen Yue slowed down a little, took his chin and pointed to the side.

At that time, the two of them happened to go around a dirt house and reach the edge of the cliff. There were rocks and weeds on the edge, overlooking the canyon where Qinglin Town is located.
