#1003 ace pilot

Major General Fei Cong'an of the Air Force personally led a squadron of J-2 fighter jets to take off from the frontline airport and pounce directly on Stalingrad, which was controlled by Paulus' 6th Army.

The Third Reich had control over the mobilization progress of some of the Western Expedition armies. Of course, they also knew that the Chinese would send the most advanced fighter jets to this battlefield.

Therefore, in early May, when it was confirmed that the Chinese army was indeed going on a large-scale expedition to the Eastern Front battlefield, the Third Reich High Command transferred some jet fighter squadrons to the Eastern Front battlefield to deal with the possible emergence of Chinese jet fighters.

The main equipment of the German army was the Me262 jet fighter, which the Allies called the Stormbird.

On the Western Front battlefield, especially after the Third Reich armies withdrew from the island of Great Britain, Stormbird jet fighters almost controlled air superiority over the entire English Channel and part of the island.

Before Britain, the United States and other countries had successfully developed their own jet fighters, the Stormbird had absolute dominance on the Western Front.

Different from the historical period, because the industrial strength of the Third Reich is still strong, the production capacity of Storm Bird is equivalent to that of Tiger tank. If Mustache is given a year, he will be able to produce at least 1,500 jet fighters.

This kind of production capacity is enough to scare the Allies such as Britain and the United States.

In actual combat, Stormbirds can often defeat one against five.

In the hands of an average pilot, a Stormbird can easily shoot down five enemy propeller fighters.

If you are an ace pilot, this number will be 8 or even 10.

With the support of huge production capacity, the Allies could not see the possibility of crossing the English Channel and threatening the Atlantic defense line of the Third Reich.

The Stormbird jet fighter was successfully developed by the Third Reich's scientific researchers based on their own abilities, without the guidance of so-called time-travelers.

While it has countless groundbreaking precedents, the fighter itself also has many problems.

On May 15, when the J-2 fighter squadron commanded by Fei Congan entered the detection range of the air defense radar of Army Group South of the Third Reich, it was immediately discovered by the radar.

The radar technology of the Third Reich came from China, from Jiangdong. They continued to develop on the radar technology provided by Jiangdong, and today the level is equivalent to that of China.

Based on the data displayed on the radar, the Third Reich air defense personnel determined that the incoming aircraft was an enemy jet fighter.

Three minutes later, Stormbird jet fighters from the same squadron took off from the airport behind Stalingrad to intercept.

The news quickly reached the ears of Paulus, Manstein, and even senior generals of the Supreme Command.

The entire Army Group South was paying attention to the upcoming air battle over Stalingrad.

This is the first time that jet fighters from the East and the West have exchanged fire. They each have their own advantages and disadvantages in the legend, but the true story can only be seen on the battlefield.

Similarly, the Chinese Expeditionary Force Headquarters and the Kremlin are also paying attention to this air battle.

On the display interfaces of both sides' radars, 30 fighter jets divided into two formations were approaching at high speed from the east and west directions.

It can be seen that China's fighter jets are much faster than the Stormbirds of the Third Reich.

The commanders of both formations received guidance signals from ground radars. Ground personnel reported the orientation, distance and speed of the opponent's fleet in real time, and searched for the best and most powerful attack position for the air formation.

The radar technology is comparable, and what is about to be tested is the J-2, which is invincible in the Eastern battlefield.

Ground personnel on both sides guided their air formations to the sky above a small town called Red October northeast of Stalingrad.

From the ground army headquarters of both sides, the voice communication signals of the air formations were transmitted here in real time.

The army's middle and senior generals can feel the tense atmosphere of the air battlefield through pilots' voice communication.

Zhukov and other senior Soviet generals looked calm, but there were various emotions in their hearts that were difficult to explain clearly.

Jiang Dong and Wu Zhan's expressions were as usual, even very relaxed.

This is a sign of confidence on their part, not self-deception.

At 10:45 a.m. on May 15, fighter formations from both sides entered visual range.

On the ground, countless pairs of eyes looked at the airspace with the help of telescopes.

Although he had accurate data and intelligence on the Storm Bird, and the Air Force fighter formation sea conducted many drills based on the characteristics of the Storm Bird, Fei Cong'an, who was already a major general, did not underestimate the enemy. He followed the guidance from the ground and properly arranged tactics against the enemy.

When seeing the enemy fighter formation, Fei Congan and many pilots in the formation's first reaction was:

This is flying too slowly!

The pilots of the Third Reich were equally surprised.

"How come the enemy's plane is so fast!"

There was no time to hesitate or think too much. During the high-speed opposite flight, the two sides met only for a moment.

According to the established tactics, the Chinese fighter jet pushed its afterburner to the maximum before the two sides crossed each other. Taking advantage of the high maneuverability of the J-2 fighter jets, it quickly changed positions with the enemy aircraft group and completed the turn two seconds later.

The German pilots' fingers were already on the fire button. The Chinese fighter's high maneuverability surprised them and they had to give up the attack temporarily.

There were exclamations on the radio.

"The enemy is behind!"

"They've completed the U-turn."

"Danger, avoid!"

Two seconds ago it was a life-and-death collision, and the next moment it was a cat-and-mouse fight.

The Third Reich was led by ace pilot Major Novonit.

Novonit was born in 1920 and is not yet 23 years old this year, but he already has more than 200 victories, of course all of which are propeller fighters.

Fei Congan only had less than 50 battle results. This does not mean that his ability is inferior to Novonit. The more important reason for this situation is that the intensity of the eastern and western battlefields is different.

The little devils don't have that many planes to wreak havoc on the Chinese Air Force.

Walnut was recognized as the ace pilot of the Third Reich Air Force and was convinced by many people, so he was the commander of the first jet fighter formation.

As a proud and confident ace pilot, Novonit is naturally looking forward to the collision with the Chinese Air Force.

Being able to lead the team to carry out this interception mission, he thanked the generals for their trust and planned to repay the head of state with victory.

Novonit has also studied China's J-II aircraft, so he prepared multiple sets of tactics.

It's just that plans often don't change quickly. The high speed of Chinese fighter jets makes it impossible for Novonit to use his tactics.

The maximum flight speed of the J-2 fighter is close to 1,100 kilometers per hour, and the maximum flight speed of the Stormbird piloted by Novonit is 850 kilometers per hour.

The difference in flight speed caused Novonit to lose the initiative.

When he came to his senses, he found that his formation was already in an extremely disadvantageous position.

In such a situation, the role of tactics is minimal. What is more important is the personal ability of the pilot and the performance of the fighter aircraft.

Ace pilot Major Novonit immediately issued an order for a free air battle.

On the ground, Manstein, Paulus and others were sweating for their own flight formation.

Their hands were clasped tightly, as if they didn't even dare to breathe, just to hear clearly what was happening in the sky.

After this first contest, Fei Congan and the J-2 pilot had completely relaxed.

The enemy's aircraft was just like what was said in the intelligence. It had a strange shape, could not keep up with our own speed, and was far behind in maneuverability.

Fei Congan smiled slightly, and like Novonit, issued the order for free air combat.
