Chapter 191: Three Ways

When the officers in Zhucheng rioted and revolted, an extremely important meeting was being held in Eyi City. Those who participated in the Mohist who went to Chu to serve in this event.

For the world, reconstruction is the goal, and breaking the old is just a means.

This is also why the military power of the Mo family on Si Shang can completely crush the Chu State but delayed it for so long before taking action, so that after breaking it, a new order can be quickly rebuilt.

The purpose of this meeting is to convey the resolution of an important meeting a month ago in Si, and to discuss the actual situation in Hubei.

Hubei is the key to the world, and it is also the gate of Jianghan. This will be the first stop for the Mohist family to change in Chu State, and it is also a shot. Whether it can be done well is extremely important.

In addition, Si Shang intends to use Eyi as the county seat of the new county in Chu.

On the one hand, there is coal, Dayeshan iron ore, Dayeshan copper ore, gold ore, and Yangtze River waterways. It is the most suitable place for the development of basic industries in the entire Chu area. The conditions are excellent. It is possible to reproduce the coal and iron industry in Si Shang, so that the Chu area can quickly enter the Iron Age as a whole.

On the other hand, it is also to prevent the future separatist situation of Jianghan. Hubei was not yet developed at this time and a large number of immigrants were necessary; and its location was almost attacked from all sides, so it was the most difficult to separatist as a county governor.

As for the meeting on Chudi a month ago in Si Shang, it was an important meeting on how to take the future route.

After using the help of Fengchihui, who died in vain, began to clean up the non-aggressive founding faction in Si Shang, it gradually reached synonyms, but new contradictions have also arisen.

Seven years ago, some people from the Mo family began to turn to the farmer family, and the differences between the Mo family and the farmer family about the future construction of the world became increasingly serious.

The Mohist criticized the farmer as a fantasy, and the farmer criticized the Mohist for defeating the nobles and supporting the workshop owner, and also accused the Mohist of being the world's number one big workshop owner and a big businessman, and the two sides were quarreling.

The situation in Si Shang is very special. For the needs of war, the rural areas of Si Shang adopted a village-community system similar to cooperatives. The people in the rural areas of Si Shang are both hired workers and land owners. Under this system, the stability of the military population and grain output are guaranteed, and villages can organize capital and labor to develop some light industries.

For example, industries such as papermaking, charcoal, lime, winemaking, textiles, etc., coupled with the adjustment of monetary policy and monetary tax, replacing in-kind taxes, and surrounding blood-sucking policies have made Si Shang much higher than elsewhere, and it is quite a paradise.

But the situation around Si Shang is different.

After the Song State Incident, the country that was closest to Si Shang, which was the most influenced by Si Shang and was the most affected by Si Shang's industrial and commercial development, cleared away some of the remnants of the nobles and underwent great changes.

All schools of thought were attempting an ideal society in the Song Dynasty, except for the retro Confucianism.

The entire Song State also developed three different models.

The first model is the place closest to Si Shang, where the scholars and nobles first completed their transformation.

They chose to support the Mohist school during the Song Dynasty, and their development was closely related to Si Shang.

They themselves had fiefdoms and wealth. With the development of Sishang industry and commerce, they began to manage their fiefdoms and expand their private lands. They took many measures to try their best to squeeze the farmers on the fiefdoms.

They own assets, and can buy oxen and horses, buy iron and agricultural tools, expand the planting area, and sell grain, cotton, etc. to Si Shang.

The source of their wealth was mainly the farmers on the fiefdom.

On the one hand, the farmers chose to flee to Sishang, supplementing the cheap labor population that Sishang was urgently needed for the development of industrial and commercial industries; on the other hand, benefiting from this fiefdom system with the old system, these nobles also completed transformation and became operators of large-scale land, continuously providing raw materials and food for Sishang.

After the coup in the Song Dynasty, the interests of these people did not move. A group of people who were unwilling to endure at the bottom fled to Si Shang long ago, and the rest gradually began to adapt to this kind of employment life.

The second model is to allocate the land slightly far from Si Shang, and after distributing the land according to the population, it allows buying and selling, completely breaking the original land.

Over the years, a severe gap between the rich and the poor began to appear. Under various factors, the richer the richer the poorer the poorer the poor, and let the inaction be governed by nature.

The rich began to raise horses, plow oxen, accumulate fertilizer, and be able to plant various crops to cooperate with the development of industry and commerce in Sishang; the poor were not well-managed and it was difficult to maintain a slight accident, and eventually sold their land.

Some of the rich have hundreds of acres of land and have begun to hire farmers and workers to work.

The poor either became hired workers or fled to Sishang. In just seven or eight years, although it was not too serious, the traces were already very obvious.

Both modes are acquiesced by Si Shang or even supported by him.

On the one hand, there is no need to worry about unstable factors. Si Shang's ruling ability and financial ability, even if the industry and commerce have not developed, is enough to digest the reclaimed new land of these people.

On the other hand, the rapid development of Sishang industry and commerce requires raw materials, grain, and population work.

Especially with the past seven years of military expansion and preparation, industry and commerce have developed more rapidly. Cotton textiles, wood processing, shipbuilding, oil, patent leather and other industries closely related to military expansion and preparation have developed very rapidly, with huge profits and shortage of people everywhere.

However, as a stable soldier, the village and community in Sishang did not allow such a situation in the State of Song. The population of Sishang did not count as migration and escaped for 30 years, and its natural growth was far beyond the past, but it was still difficult to make up for such a large labor gap.

In addition, policies are inclined to protect the stability of Sishang Village, making it even more impossible to obtain a large amount of cheap population from the local area.

After the synonym meeting seven years ago, the morality of the phased development of "Perfect Land" was also determined, making these two models an attempt in a special case.

This attempt is beneficial to Si Shang, but it is naturally not beneficial to poor farmers who have lost their land to escape.

The remnants of the village tradition and well-field system in the Spring and Autumn Period were quite reversal among some land-lossers.

For example, the land in villages and communities cannot be bought and sold, and the land is re-given after a person dies, and the trend of thinking such as villages and community autonomy has also begun to spread.

So a third model emerged, a model that was somewhat similar to the village and community system in Sishang but was completely different.

This model is an attempt by farmers to dream of, and is completely contrary to the Mohist path to promote the development of industry and commerce and the budding of enlightenment.

On the one hand, farmers do not attach importance to handicrafts and believe that the market should be kept as long as the wise and the people should cultivate together. Their starting point is not to lay the foundation for concentrated capital to develop industry and commerce, but a reactionary backtrack under fantasy.

On the other hand, the areas controlled by farmers were underdeveloped and were always in a position of dumping by Si Shang. However, they did not concentrate their efforts and certainly had no power to develop industry and commerce.

If it is in a remote area or far away from Si Shang, an area with extremely developed industry and commerce, the fantasy of Jia Bu Erguan, a small country, a village and community autonomous city, can also be realized. However, it is too close to Si Shang, and there are too many problems under the huge impact.

This is a kind of Togu's average fantasy. The farmer's set is a fear of social change. On the one hand, he has to endure the exploitation of the aristocratic feudal system, and on the other hand, he has to bear the profits of industrial and commercial people. In addition, he is too close to Si Shang, so there is no problem.

The village and community model of Sishang is invested too much, and the literacy population is needed too much, and a surrounding environment for industrial and commercial development is needed. It can be said that maintaining some Sishang is already the limit of the Mohist school, and it is impossible to expand to the entire world.

Therefore, when the State of Chu was about to be defeated and the form was very good, a choice must be made. What will the model of the world look like in the future?

Neither we can follow the Si Shang model completely, because the situations in different places are different, it is impossible to look at it at the same time; secondly, the Si Shang development model is actually economic colonization and expansion, sucking the blood of the surrounding and nine states in the world to nourish a state. If the world is regarded as a whole, then this model will not work.

The principle determined at the beginning of the war against Chu was to take the second path and give up the first path and the third path.

That is to say, the abandonment of the "nobles use the feudal privileges of feudal labor and transform through the development of industry and commerce and the exploitation of farmers" will inevitably retain a large number of feudal remnants.

It also gave up the "retro" Ida Village Community variant.

In other words, adopt the development policy of land division, wealth division, and natural merger.

On the one hand, there are few people and many lands. If something happens, there is a lot of land around you that can be immigrated. As long as the governing ability is strong enough, no matter how many times the population is, it will be fine.

Second, this will help the development of industry and commerce. As long as you can complete the handicraft revolution before the outbreak of tolerance and endurance, and make the steam engine rotate within a hundred years, there will be no problem.

Therefore, on the one hand, Si Shang increased its investment in machinery manufacturing facilities, including cast iron technology, boring machines and tools, and a large number of literate students sent them to study. They made it possible to burn coal with white steam at any cost, but not something that can only be used in coal mines.

On the other hand, in order to deal with the unification war that may last for more than ten years or even decades, this kind of merger cannot happen too early.

At the same time, the people of Chu must feel the benefits and determine the improvement of their living standards, which requires huge investment.

Fortunately, the Mohist family prepared for thirty years to fight this war, not only talent reserves, but also a new cultural and moral system, new ethics, population, soldiers, and a lot of wealth.

This time, the reform dominated by Chu State was to give land and divide land. On the one hand, it completely wiped out the remnants of the aristocratic country, and on the other hand, it should also pay attention to the village traditions of the backward areas of Chu State.

The core area of the noble rule is simple.

On the contrary, it is quite difficult to have areas with village and community remnants in backward areas.

The collapse of village traditions is a long process. Lu, Song and other countries have almost collapsed, but some remote areas of Chu still remain.

On the one hand, the village community is a small society, and it is the world in the eyes of the villagers. A series of problems such as rural wishes, autonomous backwardness, birth, old age, sickness and death are all solved by the village community.

On the other hand, the development is not enough, so that the private ownership system has not completely collapsed the village and community system, and in this case it is easy to give birth to a patriarchal reactionary utopian system, which must be cleared.

The most brutal solution is to gather villages and villages, allocate land, strictly manage them, quickly collapse the original villages and communities, and recognize the private land system in the Central Plains. This is effective quickly, but it requires more expenditures and rebounds greatly, and it may also form a rebellion.

A slower solution is to be gentler, grant wasteland, build farm tools and technology, moderate change, and use longer, relying on the advancement of productivity and the industrial and commercial development of surrounding cities to gradually collapse.

The disadvantage is that it is difficult to effectively control the villages and communities, and cannot burst out the full potential of war in Chu. The management may be very chaotic, and the most important thing is that there are not so many cadres.

After a long discussion and calculation and trade-offs on Si Shang, we finally decided to choose the second method. After all, the already developed areas of the Jianghan Plain of Chu State, cooperate with Si Shang to deal with the Yue State, which is enough to provide a crushing advantage over the northern vassal states and does not need to fully realize the full potential of Chu.

The remaining evolution can be taken slowly, don’t rush for a moment, and the assimilation and fusion in the south can take a long time to take slowly.

We just need to gain a foothold in the plains and develop production. Let’s talk about the rest later. For more remote areas, we will give up the country where the country is worthy of ruling, regardless of whether it is necessary to stand in the plains and river valleys, and leave the rest to future generations.

As the key to the world, the reform here must be in-depth and as an important node for controlling Jianghan in the future. The entire Chu State's reform must start from Hubei.

However, the situation in Hubei is a bit special, which makes the people who presided over the reform in Chu face a doubt: Since we have determined to take the second path, the Fengjun of Hubei has completed the first path in a small area, what should we do?

Eyi is close to Dayeshan Copper Mine and is at the critical point of trade between Jianghan and Sishang in Chu State. The situation here is somewhat different.

Although there is a fiefdom and labor system, there are also some large manors that use slaves and slave labor formed by Ejun to acquire wealth or privately open copper mines to produce grain.

Because the monarch of Hubei was unable to be self-sufficient, he needed cotton cloth, muskets, iron tools, armor on the Si, and a certain amount of grain to privately dig the copper mines in Daye Mountain, so this rather abnormal land system appeared.

There are specialized people who manage, use slaves, or lose the land for various reasons, or forcefully deprive the land under the power of enfeoffment, and are responsible for planting and harvesting.

There are tens of thousands of acres of land, which are all good fertile land and can be irrigated. They are not rented into small pieces for farmers, but are operated on a large scale for various goods on Si.
