Chapter 1 Nirvana
Liu Yanzhi woke up from a nightmare.
The fire was raging and the heat waves were pressing. He could not recognize where this was. The desire to survive made him get up from the bed. His feet fell to the ground and found that his whole body was sore and weak. He almost knelt on the ground. He struggled to get up and walk out. When he walked to the door, he tripped over something. He looked closely and looked like his mother, but the mother he remembered was not so old. He didn't have time to think about it and picked up the man and continued moving forward.
There were fire everywhere and smoke everywhere. Liu Yanzhi could not recognize the direction at all. There was a firefighter wearing a helmet and a respirator. The man also saw him, took off his oxygen mask and handed it over. Liu Yanzhi put the respirator on his mother's face and walked out in the direction indicated by the firefighter.
A blockade was set up outside the fire scene, and the onlookers were driven to a faraway place. Three fire trucks sprayed water dragons. Under the night skylight, you could vaguely see rows of towering skyscrapers in the distance. All of this was completely different from the world that Liu Yanzhi knew. This dream seemed like a different life.
Liu Yanzhi was taken to the ambulance by firefighters. The emergency personnel took the old man in his arms and carried it onto a stretcher to the ambulance. Looking at the ambulance's window, he saw his strange self.
The bald head, unshaven beard, thin and weak, the eye sockets are deep, and the skin is burned red and black. This is not myself, but my eyebrows and eyes are still vaguely like myself, but my middle-aged version of myself.
"There is one here!" the firefighter shouted, and her voice was like a silver bell. She looked heroic and handsome when she took off her helmet. It turned out that a female firefighter was rescued.
So Liu Yanzhi was also pulled into an ambulance, and the sirens kept ringing and pulled all the way to the hospital. He looked at the neon lights and traffic passing through the window, and an inexplicable fear came to his heart. This was not his world, this was another world.
The first responder in a green suit was making a phone call. He was using a full-screen mobile phone with no buttons on it. Liu Yanzhi was shocked and couldn't help asking: "Master, is your elder brother Ericsson or Motorola?"
The first responder looked back at him and was stunned: "Are you okay? The burn is so serious and he is still talking."
Liu Yan looked at himself. The skin on his arms was burned and charred, but it felt painless.
The hospital has arrived. The words "Jiangdong Medical University Affiliated Hospital" stand on the thirty-story building. This is not the Affiliated Hospital of the Medical University in Liu Yanzhi's memory. The hospital I remember is only five floors high.
The injured person was sent to the emergency room. Liu Yanzhi was diagnosed with a degree III burn patient. The doctor determined that his body fluids, blood, and nerve tissue were seriously damaged. The situation was very serious. The nurses cleaned his skin, applied antibiotics, covered it with disinfectant gauze, and wrapped the injured person like a mummy. He put an oxygen mask on. The burn patient would seep out of body fluids on a large area, so the drip was also hung.
Liu Yanzhi let them fiddle with it, and the huge psychological impact made him mess up. He thought hard, and the fragments of memory gradually started to fight like a broken vase.
He is twenty years old this year. After graduating from high school, he was unemployed in society for two years. He lives in the dormitory of the Light Industry Bureau. His parents are both workers in the optical instrument factory. The memory ends one day in early July. He was particularly impressed by the TV program returning to Hong Kong.
At night, the clinical burn patient was suffering from pain, but Liu Yanzhi felt his whole body numb. It seemed that there were ten thousand ants crawling back and forth on his chest, arms, and legs. He couldn't bear it anymore, so he simply pulled the bandage. Under the ugly dead skin, the pink and tender new skin was growing at a speed visible to the naked eye, and the purple-red bubbles that were burning from the flames on his arms were slowly shrinking and disappearing.
Liu Yanzhi's breathing became rapid. It was not difficult to see that he had the ability to surpass ordinary people. This discovery made him at a loss, and the changes in the environment made him even more curious. Without a moment of hesitation, he stood up and quietly pushed open the door of the ward.
The corridor is empty, and the LCD screen shows time, 2:35, and the row of small words below is 2017.8.27.
Liu Yanzhi stayed for half a minute and slept for twenty years!
Suddenly he woke up and the person he rescued was probably really his mother.
The patient's name and the doctor and nurse in charge were hung in front of each ward. Liu Yan searched it one by one and really found his mother's name.
He was nervous and pushed open the door with trembling. It was a double ward. His mother was lying on the bed on the inside. She was already asleep. Her old face still had tears on her face. The mother in my memory was still full of black hair, but now she turned gray hair and wrinkles. She looked like an old man in her seventies.
Tears fell, and Liu Yanzhi burst into tears. His mother slept very lightly. He opened his eyes in a daze and seemed to see the vegetative son who had been in bed for twenty years sitting in front of him. She thought it was a dream, a beautiful dream that she had been waiting for countless times. Since her son was in a car accident in the summer of 1997, she persisted for twenty years. She helped her son turn over, wipe it, beat the food into liquid nasal feeding, and chatted with him for such a day.
The mother reached out to touch her son in the dream, but she felt the real temperature. She bit her tongue and it hurt! This scene turned out to be true!
"Wang'er, you're here, you, you..." The mother was so excited that she couldn't speak, and then she burst into tears. Years of persistence finally gained something. How great would it be if her husband could live to this day and the whole family was reunited.
The door opened, and the nurse stood at the door. She saw the bandages and red burns on Liu Yanzhi's body.
"Hey, why are you running around? You're not going to die, go back quickly." The nurse scolded, suddenly thinking that this was a severe burn patient. It was supposed to be shocked, and how could he move freely and look calmly. She turned around to find the doctor on duty.
Liu Yanzhi followed and heard the nurse's voice: "Doctor Li, walk around after 36 beds."
The middle-aged man's voice was followed: "Impossible, go and have a look."
The doctor on duty found Liu Yanzhi, looked him up and down, with a puzzled look, and murmured to himself: "It's impossible, the burn can heal itself, it's so fast, you... go back and lie down quickly, Xiao Zhao, notify Director Wang." He looked at his watch and changed his words, "Forget it, let's talk about it in the morning, bed 36, hurry up and lie down, and give you a comprehensive examination later."
Liu Yanzhi was creepy and a picture appeared in his mind. He was sent to a secret research institution and tied to the operating table and was watched by a group of people in white. After all, he had a temper in his 20-year-old, and could not hide anything in his heart. He pushed the doctor away without saying a word, pulled his mother away.
"Where are you going? Be careful of the infection." The doctor and nurse chased after him.
"Do you want to call a security guard?" the nurse asked.
"No need." The doctor looked at the mother and the mother's backs away and fell into myth.
On the quiet street, Liu Yanzhi and his son sat under the street lights and had nowhere to go.
"Mom, where is my dad?" Liu Yanzhi asked, actually having a premonition in his heart. As expected, his mother began to wipe her tears: "Your dad left last year and he is still thinking about you before he dies..."
"Where is our family?" Liu Yanzhi was silent for a while and then asked.
"In order to treat you, the house has been sold long ago, and all the valuables have been sold..." The mother talked and told her son about the hardships over the years. Liu Yan started to sob and then burst into tears.
The father was gone and the house was gone. The mother, son and son were helpless. Walking on the street at dawn, he was barefoot and wearing a blue and white hospital gown brought from the hospital's dirty laundry basket. Because of his long-term bedridden, his muscles were atrophy. He was as thin as a bamboo pole, and his exposed burned skin was like a ghost.
My mother has a job and is a temporary worker in the sanitation department. The mother and her mother temporarily live in the shed where the sanitation department puts tools.
"Wang'er, it's better to go back to the hospital. Treatment is important." The mother was worried about her son's burns and didn't care about her injuries.
Liu Yanzhi stretched his arm to his mother: "Look, it's already gone, it doesn't hurt at all."
The mother has a low level of education and doesn't understand what the miracles that happened to her son mean. Since her son is full of energy, she doesn't think about that much.
"Mom, I'm hungry." Liu Yanzhi's stomach made a gushing sound.
"Wait, mom will buy you breakfast." My mother went out to buy a bunch of food, fried dough sticks and soy milk porridge. Liu Yanzhi had been liquid for twenty years, and his esophagus and stomach deteriorated. He could only chew it slowly. After eating a meal for a long time, after stuffing the last bun into his mouth, his mother pushed his portion over.
"Mom, you can eat too." Liu Yanzhi said vaguely.
"Mom is not hungry." The mother smiled kindly, Liu Yan's nose sore, and tears rolled down. The mother took care of herself for twenty years and suffered a lot of sins and sacrifices she had made, which could be seen on her deeply wrinkled face.
After breakfast, my mother said, "Wang'er, lie down for a while, mom will go to work." Then she took a big broom and went out.
Liu Yanzhi was very tired. He lay on the mat to rest. He felt a bunch of crumb-shaped food dissolved in his stomach by gastric acid, and then mixed with gastric juice to transport it into the small intestine. Countless villous bulges in the small intestine were absorbing nutrients. He could even feel a trace of energy slowly flowing through the blood throughout his body, and gradually he became hungry again.
There was no food in the shed, only a water dispenser and half a bucket of pure water. Liu Yan straightened his mouth to the outlet, pressed the switch to drink half a bucket of water, stood up and walked for two steps, and could hear the sound of water shaking in his stomach.
He looked at his body again, and it seemed that there was no difference from when he was in the hospital. The recovery and growth of his skin had obviously slowed down, and the numbness and slight feeling disappeared. Instead, it was a swelling and filling feeling, and then it began to hurt. The unbearable radioactive pain from the inside out made Liu Yan faint.
When he woke up again, his mother had already come back. She was sitting by the bed and helping him wipe the sweat beads on his forehead. Her face was full of worry and asked him where he felt uncomfortable and whether he wanted to go to the hospital for a look.
Only then did Liu Yanzhi realize that the straw mat under him was soaked in sweat, and the patient's gown was also soaked in sweat. Fortunately, the pain also left. He comforted his mother and said it was okay. His mother half-believed and half-doubtedly, so he took out the newly bought sweatshirt and beach pants and asked him to change the patient's gown.
Liu Yanzhi, who had put on new clothes, insisted on going out for a walk with his mother. His mother could not persuade him and had to take his son out.
