Chapter 39 As a Spy

Time is tight, and the two had to give up their trip to New York and go to the airline to go through the sign-up procedures immediately. They bought two-way air tickets in Hong Kong, so they had to fly back to Hong Kong from San Francisco and then to Jinjiang, which would probably delay major events.

Traveling back to the base time and space is the top priority, and the loss is no problem. Guan Lu made a quick decision, refunded the tickets and repurchased the flight from New York to Beijing. It is now 1984. China and the United States have only been in five years since the establishment of diplomatic relations. Political and economic exchanges are gradually heating up, but private exchanges are still scarce, and flights are not available every day. Fortunately, there are still free seats in the latest flight, but it is just first class cabin. Not to mention the price, it is not discounted.

The first-class air tickets are expensive, several times more than that of economy class. The situation is urgent, and the two of them don’t care about the money. They spent all the traveler’s checks on hand and bought two first-class air tickets to China tomorrow.

After all these things, it was already dark. In order to save money, Guan Lu reluctantly returned all the clothes and shoes she had just bought and had not yet heated up, and even the two premium rooms of Waldorf had changed into one standard room.

There were two beds in the standard room and they were all peaceful all night. The next morning, the booked taxi arrived. The front desk phone reminded that the two had breakfast, took simple luggage downstairs, and rushed to Kennedy International Airport, from there, they would fly to the distant ancient China.

The first class cabin is spacious and you can lie down and rest. The journey of more than ten hours passed quickly. The flight arrived at Beijing Capital International Airport. Looking down from the porthole, it was the vast northern land with high air visibility. You can see a long runway and huge terminal building. Of course, there is only Terminal 1, and No. 2 and No. 3 do not even have drawings.

It was a bit troublesome when going out to customs. The two of them held passports of native citizens of the British Empire, and there was no Chinese visa on it. Fortunately, they also had Hong Kong ID cards and Hong Kong and Macao compatriots' return certificates. After rummaging through boxes and cabinets, all the documents were placed in front of the public security personnel in the border inspection.

The police officers were wearing straight uniforms and sharp eyes under the solemn hat badge. When he carefully examined the two documents, Liu Yanzhi and Guan Lu couldn't help but feel a little scared. The police at the Immigration Office of the Capital Airport were not those at Luohu Port. The guests from all over the world they had to face had already developed a pair of sharp eyes.

"Please come with me." The police picked up the ID and walked to the room next to him. Liu Yanzhi and Guan Lu looked at each other and had to follow him. This was the main site of the airport. There was no way to escape, and he was even more dying.

The two of them waited in the hut for an hour. Liu Yan was ready to take the risk. Just when he almost decided to break out, someone finally came in. He was a middle-aged police officer with a breeze on his face.

"I'm sorry, I've been wasting your time, welcome home." The middle-aged police officer shook hands with the two enthusiastically, making them at a loss.

All the documents were returned and their luggage was also collected for them. The two of them went directly to the terminal lobby to buy air tickets to Omi Yutan Airport. Guan Lu went to buy tickets. Liu Yanzhi saw a huge mural on the wall, which painted a subtropical landscape, but a corner was blocked. He was a little curious. He walked over and opened it and saw that there were several women taking a bath in the river. He couldn't help but feel ashamed. People these days are too conservative.

Unfortunately, there is only one flight per week from Beijing to Jinjiang. It has passed yesterday and will not have tickets until next week. They can only choose to take the train.

Outside the airport, a bluebird car with the Beijing Tourism Transportation Company sign was parked in front of two Hong Kong compatriots. The driver was a clever young man who was diligent in helping them carry their luggage.

"Where are you going, sir?" the driver asked, speaking authentic Beijing movies.

"Train station." Liu Yan replied straight.

The road from the airport to the city is very smooth, and there is no traffic jam at all. The trees on both sides quickly move backwards. The driver opened his mouth: "You two are overseas Chinese, are you going back to your hometown?"

"Oh, get married through traveling." Guan Lu was casual and perfunctory.

"Why don't you go around Beijing? The Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, and the Badaling Great Wall are all scenic spots." The young man held the steering wheel and found it as a treasure. "There are also the famous foods in our old Beijing, Quanjude Roast Duck, that's something you must try."

"I am not a hero before the Great Wall. I must climb the Great Wall. But I have been there long ago, let alone Badaling, Mutianyu, and Simatai. I won't go there this time, and I won't eat roast duck." Liu Yan said perfunctorily. He realized that the driver was not simple because he saw Kang Fei's shadow in him.

"That's a pity," said the driver. "Where are you going, I can help buy train tickets."

"We want to go to Omi. The faster the better. The best you can help. I can pay you foreign currency." Guan Lu took out two US dollars.

The driver smiled: "I am not a scalper, but a driver from a regular travel agency. Just help you book tickets and charge a normal handling fee. I'll arrange it later when I arrive at the train station."

Beijing Railway Station is crowded with people, and there is a long queue in front of the ticket window. It is hard to get tickets to the direction of Omi, so there is no station ticket.

"It's over, I can't go back." Guan Lu sighed to the sky, "Look at a solution quickly, why are you not in a hurry at all."

Liu Yanzhi was confident: "Isn't there Xiao Zhang?"

"Xiao Zhang is just a taxi driver. Can he have such great ability?" Guan Lu was skeptical.

"He is not an ordinary taxi driver, if I guess correctly." Liu Yan looked around, the noise was noisy and people came and went.

"He may be an agent of the NSA and was ordered to monitor us."

"No." Guan Lu looked around, the workers cleaning, the passengers reading newspapers, the police on duty, and the self-employed people selling beverages all looked like people surveillance them.

Things have reached this point, and there is no other way, just wait.

Twenty minutes later, Xiao Zhang came over excitedly and took two soft sleeper tickets to ask for credit: "It's a good thing that you are compatriots from Hong Kong and Macao. I found a friend, and my friend went to the webmaster again, and I immediately approved it."

With the soft-sleeping ticket in hand, the two of them were relieved. They gave Xiao Zhang money and gave him an additional ten dollars to tip. Xiao Zhang refused and accepted it.

The train departed in the evening, and there were still a few hours left. Xiao Zhang drove two Hong Kong compatriots to visit Beijing City, passed by Chang'an Street, and saw the famous Tiananmen Square. There were no fences, no security checks, no plainclothes, only tourists from all over the world, as well as hawkers riding bikes.

At 6:40 in the evening, Xiao Zhang bought a platform ticket and sent them onto the train. With the sound of the whistle, the diesel locomotive imported from the United States slowly started and headed south with the 18th green bus.

Liu Yanzhi and Guan Lu put down their luggage first. There were very few people in the soft sleeper car. One private room only accommodates four passengers. There was another couple in their private room, both intellectuals, and enthusiastically invited them to eat apples. However, in their opinion, these two must be agents responsible for surveillance and tracking.

After dinner in the dining car, four passengers with ulterior motives returned to the soft sleeper car. The other party started to talk. Liu Yanzhi had little experience in traveling around the world, so he had to be dull. Guan Lu talked endlessly and talked about his experience in studying in the United States, which made the two agents stunned.

The conductor came to change the sleeper tickets, and the lights were turned off at 10 o'clock. The soft sleeper car was silent, and only the sounds of the wheels and rails with clear rhythms accompanied them to sleep.

In the early morning, Liu Yanzhi woke up from his sleep and found that the train was parked at an unknown small station. He waited for an hour but still couldn't start. He couldn't help but get up and find the conductor to ask why.

"Stop temporarily, something must have happened ahead." The conductor could only give him a vague answer.

"How many hours can I delay?" Liu Yanzhi was anxious. There was not enough time, and it would be too late to go back to 2017.

"That's hard to say, it's normal to be delayed by more than ten hours." The conductor looked at his watch and advised him to go back and rest.

"Where is this?" Liu Yanzhi asked the last question.

"It's not yet Texas, this is a small station." The conductor gave him an extremely desperate answer. Even if he got off here and found a way to get a car, he was not sure to arrive at Cuiwei Mountain within a dozen hours. There are no expressways or navigation instruments these days, and he doesn't know the road. The most reliable way is to wait.

Two hours later, the train started again, and Liu Yanzhi breathed a sigh of relief. He looked down at Guan Lu lying on the lower bunk. He was sleeping soundly, and his saliva wet his pillow.

At noon, the train arrived at the East Omi Railway Station. Liu Yanzhi and Guan Lu said goodbye to the couple in the same private room with their luggage and got off in a hurry. As the brigade of passengers walked towards the exit, the platform was crowded with passengers carrying large bags and small luggage. Most of them were concentrated outside the hard sleeper carriage. The door was full of traffic, and people could not get off or get up. Many passengers simply climbed in through the windows. The conductor ignored it, as if this was a natural thing.

Outside the exit, two scouts from the Second Division of the Public Security Bureau were waiting for the arrival of British spies. News from Beijing said that these two were suspicious and were general surveillance targets. The Ministry of National Security was established last year. The local counter-espionage mission is still under the responsibility of the Public Security Bureau. The specific implementation of the people from the Second Division is the person.

But they didn't wait for the two fashionable Hong Kong people, and they didn't see anyone until all the passengers finished their way.

"Oh no, I've been dumped." The scout was annoyed.

Liu Yanzhi and Guan Lu slipped away from the door where the station staff entered and exited, at the cost of a foreign exchange voucher exchanged at the Capital Airport.

The two of them went out and looked at their watches. They were very calm and they were enough to go to Cuiwei Mountain.

"Are you going to see your apprentice?" Guan Lu asked.

Liu Yanzhi shook his head: "It's too late, I always meet if I'm destined to do it."

There were many cars parked outside the station. Liu Yanzhi looked back and forth, directly opened the door of a Beijing Jeep 212, pulled out a few wires from under the baffle to create sparks, and the jeep started. He learned this trick at Antai's training center.

Guan Lu hurriedly climbed into the car: "Are you stealing the car?"

"How can I get there if I don't drive? Could it be a ride?" Liu Yanzhi stepped on the gear, reversed, turned around, and drove towards the busy street.

Ten minutes later, Xiao Li, a driver of the Provincial Political and Legal Affairs Committee who was sent to the station, returned to the parking lot and found that his car was missing. After searching for a while, he couldn't find it. He quickly reported the case to the station police station.

"Even the provincial party committee dares to steal cars, the thief is too brave now!" Xiao Li was furious.

In the speeding jeep, Guan Lu said in confusion: "I seem to have been in this car."
