Chapter 31 Carmack's Minesweeper(2/2)

So, Michael Dell discovered that even if he worked in a serious job after graduating from school, he would not have made much money now.

So he dropped out of school without hesitation.

I remember that Dell made more than $60 million in 1986 and became famous by the American Academy Entrepreneur of the Year in 1986.

Thinking of Michael Dell, who is still struggling in the Texas garage and fantasizing about the future, shouldn’t he refuse his investment?

Of course I won’t refuse. You should know that the first thing Dell does after becoming famous is financing.

Jester thought so.

Then Jester began to get upset again. He had no time to do the thing he wanted to acquire Vision Studio to obtain the copyright of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". Now he has the idea of investing in Dell, but he is really unable to do it alone. Should he set up a venture capital fund to do this specifically?

Moreover, he still has countless things he wants to do in his mind, but after all, he has limited energy and cannot do it one by one.

It seems that this investment fund must be done.

Jester wrote down this idea on the paper on the table. He was busy lately and always accidentally forgot many important things.

While drawing paper, he also saw the design of the first level sketch of "Super Mario" that he had not completed that day. In addition to the different types of bricks floating in the air, various mushrooms and monsters, and various explanations, there was also Mario's big nose, red hat, red and blue overalls, and a big bearded image.

Jester suddenly discovered a problem he had never noticed before, that is, he actually drew Mario on the drawings!

But the problem is that this image has long been set by Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto in the 1980s, and has used this character in three games, two Donkey Kong, and even a game specially made for Mario, which has sold 1.6 million sets in Japan.

Thinking of this, Jester immediately angrily grabbed the originally drawn setting picture into a ball and threw it into the trash can, and secretly cursed himself as a fool.

Jester wanted to redesign a character, but his mind was full of Mario's image. Miyamoto's idea at the beginning of designing this character was constantly recalling it in his mind - a look that was as clear as a mark, and a color scheme that easily expresses movements. But the problem is that Mario's image is too profound in his mind. No matter what he thinks, he only has Mario's image in his mind that conforms to Miyamoto's setting.

So, Jester simply abandoned Shigeru Miyamoto's setting and wanted to create a character that was amiable and easy to distinguish. However, Jester drew several drawings on manuscript paper in a row, including some classic games in later generations, or characters in classic comics, handsome, cute, fierce, etc., but none of them were more in line with the characteristics of this era than Mario's original image.

Perhaps it was because Mario's image was too time-consuming. After all, since his childhood, this image has accompanied him for twenty years. This is an absolutely indelible memory.

Jester could only think so.

Although Jester knew that Mario was successful because of the gameplay, it laid the foundation for how to make an excellent game, guided countless designers who were still confused, and even made countless children have the idea of "I spent more than fifty dollars to move a super arcade back home! It's so amazing!", not because of how classic this character is. The classic of this character is based on the success of this game.

But in Jester's eyes, the game "Super Mario" that cannot be forgotten in the history of the game is a perfect work. Any aspect of it is perfect. Since he wants to make this game, he must not allow himself to do worse than the original one. As a person who loves electronic games and wants to revitalize this industry, he will never allow himself to blaspheme the real masterpiece in any sense in the history of the game.

You have to go beyond it!

Jester took a breath and could only helplessly throw the paintbrush in his hand that was almost used up. Through the window, he looked at the sky in the distance that had begun to turn white. The golden sun was slowly rising: "I'd better find professionals later. Those painters who have not been influenced by Mario's image to draw."
