The Land of Life (Part 2)(2/2)

In 1973, Delman Archaeological Research Institute, Bavaria, Germany.

"Professor, these are the large number of ancient Bavaria and Roman republic artifacts we have dug in that cave that has never been discovered."

“Ah, this is very helpful for us to study German history, as well as Bavarian history.

Bavaria was the name given to the place by the Romans when the Roman Empire ruled. Caesar's occupation of Gaul made the Germans the direct neighbor of the Romans. This contact was never peaceful. Caesar crossed the Rhine twice to carry out a punitive attack on the Germans. Under the tenacious resistance of the Germans, the arrogant Roman army suffered the most painful defeat in their most powerful era."

"Ah, professor, yes, the Roman soldiers who participated in that battle were the most powerful elites in the Roman army. Their war skills were quite superb, but they were defeated by the 'barbarians and Germans. It provided us with a decisive example of defeating the strong with the weak, because the powerful ancient Rome stopped expanding on a large scale, and the territory of Western civilization was roughly formed. The landform of the Teutonic Forest, where the war broke out, has not changed much today. Some place names displayed on the map, such as the 'Victory,'Bone Lane, and'Kill Valley, can still allow us to vaguely see the shadow of the bloody battle back then."

"Yes." Professor Delman sighed: "It was from which era that the Germans came to everyone. However, there were many strange and unsolved mysteries in that combat power that have been bothering all archaeologists. For example, many incredible things happened in that war... I hope this discovery will help us. So, what is this?"

Professor Delman picked up a roll of ancient parchment and carefully uncovered it, which was written in ancient Roman words:

"He came, and the leader of the barbarian came again. He rode a black war horse, waved the black giant sword, and brought the men and women of the group of barbarians again. Where he had been, it meant death and killing. Even the bravest general of the Republic could not stop him... General Gelius ran away, and everyone saw the death knight ran away... I hid in the corpse, dressed up as a dead man... They left, and like the past, wrote the words that made us so familiar to us...."

The leader of the barbarians? Who is it? Why did I never know in the past that there was such a barbarian leader described on parchment that made the Romans extremely afraid of? Knight of Death? Is this the nickname given to him by the Romans?

What words did these savages write on the military flags on Rome? Professor Delman continued to read:

"I've been here, I've seen it, I've conquered!"

Professor Delman was stunned. Isn’t this what Caesar once said? Why were the Romans so scared when they saw this?

However, when the professor's eyes fell on the end of the parchment roll, his whole body was immediately attracted:

"This damn Death Knight, proclaimed himself a baron, and under his leadership, all the savages followed him, and the sound of fighting in the name of the baron was resounding everywhere."

Fighting in the name of the baron? Which baron has appeared in German history? Professor Delman couldn't think of such a person. At this time, his eyes fell on those nine words again:

"I've been here, I've seen it, I've conquered!"
