When did it become desert?

In 1934, the world-renowned explorer Sven Heding inspected Lop Nur. At that time, there were more than 1,000 square kilometers of water. He wrote in "Eight Years of Expedition in the Hindustry of Asia"-

Over the past 350 years, this water has gradually dried up and completely disappeared in the late 1960s, becoming a mysterious sea of ​​death. There is no grass, no stream, and no insect. The surface temperature in summer is as high as 80℃. No bird dares to cross.

The greatest tree in the desert is poplar, which is born and never died for 1,000 years, die for 1,000 years, and fall for 1,000 years. Even poplars die in Lop Nur and eventually disappear.

In 1949, the plane from Chongqing to Dihua (Urumqi) disappeared over Shanshan. In 1958, it was found on the salt shell in eastern Lop Nur, and all the people on board died. What is puzzling is that the plane originally flew to the northwest, but why did it suddenly change its route and fly to the south? No one knows.

In 1950, a unit of the People's Liberation Army suppressed bandits in the Tarim Basin. On February 27, 2009, Uyghur driver Kasmu, his friends and four guides drove from Shanshan County, crossed the southwest desert and entered Lop Nur. They came to Tieban River near the ancient city of Loulan. Tieban River is a dry riverbed, deep and shallow, with ravines and dangers, without reference, similar everywhere, and easy to get lost. Kasmu mysteriously disappeared here.
