Chapter 182: Three Realms

At the temple gate.

The abbot of Pure Land Temple, Mu De, was wearing a seven-treasure glazed cassock and holding a Zen staff. He said to Su Xing and the others: "You three came to my temple and you don't know why?"

Xuanzang said respectfully: "Disciple Xuanzang is a monk from the Little Pure Land Temple in Dongsheng Shenzhou. He has traveled thousands of miles to come to your temple to practice."

After that, he explained the origin of Dongsheng Shenzhou's "Little Pure Land Temple" to the monks present.

Abbot Mu De did not show any expression after hearing this. He only said in a calm tone: "Master, if you want to worship in this temple, you need to wait until the first day of February to come to the mountain gate again. Someone will accept you."

Xuanzang said: "My disciple has something big to do. I can't wait that long. Can I do something convenient?"

Abbot Mu De didn't ask any more questions. He only glanced at Su Xing beside Xuanzang, gave him a monkey look, nodded and said, "Yes."

He made a request: "But the master must first pass the test of this temple. If he is really destined to this temple, he can stay in the temple as an elder. If he is not destined to be a Buddhist, then leave on his own!"

Some monks want to join the Pure Land Temple directly through the back door, so it is reasonable for the abbot to ask for some research first.

Therefore, Xuanzang nodded and said, "That's right. Please ask Master to come up with a question."

The abbot turned around, looked at the Buddhist verses on the stone wall at the temple gate, and said, "May I ask the Master, what is the explanation for the Buddhist verses on the stone wall?"

Xuanzang's cultivation level was not high because he had been cultivating in Dongsheng Shenzhou before.

Dongsheng Shenzhou is the territory of "Shou". It is natural for Buddhist cultivators to achieve half the result with twice the effort, and it is difficult to achieve great achievements.

However, Xuanzang’s path to Buddhism was behind his enlightenment.

Even the elders and abbots of the Little Pure Land Temple are inferior to his Buddha nature. The Buddha's verses on the stone wall cannot stop him.

Xuanzang explained: "The Buddhist verse on the left is intended to teach practitioners to get rid of distracting thoughts and suppress desires in order to achieve the great road."

If Buddhist practitioners are controlled by desires, they will become demons. Only those who suppress desires can become Buddhas.

So there is nothing wrong with Xuanzang’s explanation.

He continued: "As for the Buddha's verse on the right, it warns practitioners that as a monk, all the four elements are empty. When you reach the state of no desire and no pursuit, there will be no distracting thoughts in your heart."

The abbot nodded and praised: "I have learned Buddhism well... Do you know which of these two Buddhist verses is higher and which is lower?"

"this...."

Xuanzang looked at the Buddhist verses on both sides of the stone wall, with a tangled look on his face, and stood there speechless for a long time.

Seeing this, the monkey on the side said: "Of course the Buddha's verse on the right is better. Human desires are formless and formless... If you think it exists, then it exists. If you think it doesn't exist, then it doesn't.

, so the concept of 'Bodhi has no tree' is more advanced."

Among the three people in Su Xing, the monkey is born to escape.

In addition, he has a profound level of cultivation, so he doesn't need to think too much when talking and doing things. Whatever comes to mind at the moment will naturally blurt out.

When he heard the monkey's opinion of the Buddha's verse, the abbot did not express any other expression. He just said to Xuanzang: "Xuanzang, what is your opinion?"

Although Xuanzang subconsciously felt that simply explaining like a monkey did not seem to be able to perfectly interpret the word "desire".

But he thought for a long time, but finally came up with no new insights, so he nodded and said: "This is the same as my disciple's thoughts."

The abbot shook his head and said with a smile: "Xuan Zang, you can go. You can only enter the temple on the first day of February next year."

Obviously.

He was dissatisfied with Xuanzang's answer and wanted to drive him away.

This approach made the monkey feel dissatisfied: "You, old monk, do you think what I just explained is wrong?"

Abbot Mu De said: "Your Excellency hit the mark and there is nothing wrong in your explanation."

The monkey said: "Since everything is right, then why don't you let my master enter the temple?"

"Because other monks also explained it this way."

Abbot Mu De said: "Since the monks who gave the same explanation have to wait until the first day of February to enter the temple, why can your master enter the temple now?"

"this...."

The monkey was speechless and said angrily: "There is obviously only one interpretation of the Buddha's stanza. You have to have a different view. This is obviously making things difficult for people!"

The monkey sounded threatening: "Do you know the consequences of rejecting me?"

Abbot Mu De showed no fear: "Monks have nothing in mind and have already disregarded life and death."

"Okay, okay, okay."

After the monkey said "good" three times, he took out the iron rod from his ear and laughed angrily: "Then I want to see today whether you really don't care about life and death."

Having said that, the monkey wanted to go forward and 'reason' with the monks.

However, although the monkey's tone was cruel and his actions were scary, he always stood on the same spot and never really stepped forward to fight the monks.

Yawenba

Behind the monkey.

Xuanzang also persuaded him in a timely manner: "Wukong is not allowed! Since the abbot said he would come back on the first day of February, what's the harm in waiting a little longer? Whether it is in the Pure Land Temple or in Gaocheng, as long as there is a Buddha in my heart, he will be there everywhere.

Those who can practice."

Xuanzang is truly a man of profound Buddha nature.

Even when he is persuading monkeys, his words are full of Buddhist principles.

This made Mu De, the abbot, look at Xuanzang, nodding his head with undisguised admiration in his eyes.

But, rules are rules.

No matter how talented Xuanzang is, he will not open the door to convenience for the other party...

Outside the mountain gate of Pure Land Temple.

Just when Xuanzang was rejected by Mu De and was about to return in anger, Su Xing suddenly stood up.

He said loudly: "Well, monk, as long as you have different opinions, my master can join your temple?"

Seeing Su Xing directly address Mu De as 'that monk', before Mu De could say anything, a monk came forward and said: "You are so rude. When you see the abbot, you want to call him 'Master Mu De' or '

"Master', how can we directly call him 'that monk'?"

Su Xing laughed and said: "Whether it's a monk or a mage, it's just a title...Besides, I'm just a lay disciple of my master's family, and I don't know much about these rules. You're holding me back on this detail."

It doesn’t matter, isn’t it because you are obsessed with appearances?”

"this...."

The monk hesitated for a long time, but finally had nothing to say, so he hid his face and retreated into the crowd.

"Amitabha."

Seeing that Su Xing's conversation was also quite Buddhist, Abbot Mu De said: "Since the lay people have different opinions, I would like to hear the details!"

Su Xingdao: "There are three realms in life. The first realm is to see mountains as mountains, and water as water... The second realm is to see mountains as not mountains, and water as not water... The third realm is to see that mountains are not mountains, and water is not water...

Mountains are mountains again, and water is water again.”

Su Xing looked at the Buddha's verses on the stone wall: "In my humble opinion, these are the two Buddha's verses on the stone wall. They are just in the second realm... The person who composed these two Buddha's verses is, after all,

Treat desire as a ferocious beast, and dare not face it for fear of becoming a monster!"

"Be bold!"

"Arrogant!"

As soon as Su Xing said these words, all the monks were furious.

In terms of cultivation, Su Xing was indeed ahead of all the monks present.

But when it comes to Buddhism, Su Xing is just a lay disciple who has just started, and now he speaks so arrogantly that he even looks down on the author of two Buddhist verses that are used to destroy the temple.

So, some monks on the spot couldn't help it: "From what you said, you must have reached the third realm? Then I would like to hear, as a person who has reached the third realm, what do you think of the word 'desire'?"
