Chapter 21 Hunting Night (Part 2)(1/2)

Kassabah and Meka walked on the street. The burning brazier dispelled the large shadows. The smoke from the burning firewood was mixed with the cold fog rising in the river. I don’t know what it was like before, but Kassabah felt that there were too many guards on the street at this moment, and it seemed that they were all out. However, because of being in the sluice area, there might be fewer guards here than in other places. Meka told her that the sluice area is a working area and most craftsmen work here.

Due to the curfew, there were almost no pedestrians on the street. Only two people were walking forward quickly on the street ahead. There was the direction to the inner castle, and their figures seemed a little hazy in the smoke and fog.

"There is always a bit of an unknown premonition." Kasperba said, looking at the shadow of the houses across the river. The most prominent one was the stone tower, which was hidden on the top of it in the darkness. Tonight was another moonless night. Only the cold gray cross star was flashing in the sky. The bottom of the stone tower was illuminated by fire, like a historical site that was silent in the darkness. Kasperba remembered the days in the royal capital, and this scene often appeared in the temple area at night.

"This is really strange." Meka commented simply.

"Don't you feel the same way?" Kasperba turned to look at her, and the sound of her leather boots stomping on the stone brick floor echoed in the dark alleys around.

"My intuition is used in other aspects, and perceived danger is not included. But I think the banquet tonight may be much more interesting." Meka said with a smile.

"Oh? There is still a long way to go anyway, so tell me first?" Kasperba asked after suppressing the unreasonable uneasiness.

"Okay, then let me tell you as a military advisor," Meka cleared his throat, and the two of them slowed down a little. The guards standing next to the brazier didn't move like armor sets. "Have you ever read Barolwufu's post carefully?" Seeing Kasperba frowned, Meka smiled and shook her head, "I guess you haven't finished reading it. In the post, Barolwufu has already made the NPC configuration very clear, with the civilians who can be armed in Jinhu City,

A total of about 3,000 soldiers can be used, more than half of them are well-trained guards, while the other three towns: Linle Town can provide about 2,000 soldiers, and more than half of them are farmers with hoes; Langshi Town and Aide Town are both descendants of pirates with strong folk customs, and they can provide about 3,000 soldiers, most of them are fishermen, because according to their customs and traditions, everyone is a soldier when war strikes, and as long as those who can hold an axe are of combat power."

"You know a lot." Kasperba said in surprise.

"That's natural. What do you think I've been offline on the way I'm always going to do?" Meka smiled proudly. It's true. On the way I came, Meka was basically in the offline state, and her "character" kept "sleeping" in the carriage.

"Through this calculation, there are about 8,000 NPC players participating in the battle. This is a unique map mission. If it weren't for the remoteness of Golden Waterfall City and its proximity to the northern border, the city might have been filled with mercenaries. And on the side of the players, there are only Iron Chain Knights, with only 80 people in total. In addition to other lonely players, it is conservatively estimated that there will be only 200 people in total."

"What can two hundred people do in a mission of this size?" Kassabah asked with a frown.

"In the past, the difficulty of Adam's mission was in elastic mode, and the difficulty of the game was proportional to the number of players. If we were small, the difficulty of the mission would be reduced," Meka said, "But this was before, we didn't know the new version of the mission difficulty mode, so it's best not to put all expectations on it. Barolwufu probably thought so, so now he is still starting to devote all his efforts to the construction of fortifications."

"How did you know?" Kasperba was stunned.

"Did you not find that you have hardly seen members of the Iron Chain Knights after entering the city? This is their base." Meka said, "And if Barolwufu is in the city, he should have invited us to discuss it together when you come to Jinhu City, but until now, no Iron Chain Knights have come to us. It seems that they can no longer draw any extra people."

"So, Barolwufu, as the convener, is not optimistic about the situation of this mission." Kasepba also felt a little crisis, and his uneasiness became more and more serious.

"And not only Baroloft, but also the Duke of Golden Falls." Meka continued.

"Oh?" When Kasperba mentioned the Duke of Golden Falls, he looked at the guards around him. They were still motionless like dummies.

"The Duke of Golden Waterfalls sent people to wait for us at the gate at the beginning. This is very abnormal. Even if the President has a reputation, we are just a mercenary in any case. It is already very unusual for these proud nobles to put down their figure to greet us. What's even more unusual is that when we head to the inner castle, the Duke actually sent the captain of his guard to greet us. There is no need to let the Duke's captain of his guard do such a thing?" Meka smiled sly, "Master, why do you think the Duke wants to send the captain of the guard to welcome us?"

"Because the Duke wants his guard captain to test us," Kasperba looked serious, "It seems that the Duke has a troublesome task tonight."

"Always like this," said Meka, "and there is another troublesome thing tonight, but I don't know if it has anything to do with us."

"What trouble?" Kassabah turned to look at Meka.

"Things about that noble lady." Meka smiled mysteriously.

...

After drinking all the wine in the cup, Ding Ke stood up. "Let's go," she said drunkenly to Mozi next to her, "Let's go out to 'hunting'!"

Mozi had already drunk all the sweet fruit wine in the cup. Although she still had a expressionless ceramic baby face, her cheeks were blushing at this moment, and she looked very cute. Ding Ke couldn't help but reach out to rub her face.

"Ding Ke!" Belle also stood up and walked towards her, "The action tonight is in a group of three. You can't go out with Mozi."

"Ah? Is it so troublesome? Then..." Ding Ke shakingly raised a finger, and then pointed in the tavern for a long time, "Coriya! Come with us!"

"Ha? Why is it me?" Coria, who was having a happy chat with another girl, showed a dissatisfaction expression. "And I don't want to go with the drunkard. Maybe I wasn't killed by the wanted criminal but was chopped down by you with a big sword."

"Looking! You just got rid of my pre-selected list!" Ding Ke replied dissatisfiedly, "Then Mai! Where is Mai?!"

"May was drunk and was carried back to the hotel." A girl replied.

"What? Who did you give her a feed?!" Ding Ke stroked his forehead, "Forget it, I don't seem to be in a group of two."

"Yeah." Mozi nodded.

"What are the two in groups? I'll go with you." said the barbarian female warrior, "Don't underestimate the mission target worth three bags of gold coins too much."

"Give me aside," Ding Ke rubbed his brows, "Okay, okay, if I get those three bags of gold coins, I will give you some! That's it, sir, let's go."

"Yes." Mozi followed her.

"Hey! You two!" Although Belle showed an unhappy look, he still did not stop them. He only sighed at the end and returned to his position.

Walking out of the Zuiyu Tavern, a cold wind coming towards him made Ding Ke shudder and the wine became a little more awake. She took out the lady's sword from her "backpack", and Mozi silently took out the Big Tai Knife and her armor and helmet. Touching the cold steel made Ding Ke feel at ease. She looked at the surrounding blocks. Although there was a brazier every distance and there were guards standing guards, the sluice area was too quiet.

"There are so few people." Ding Ke commented.

"Yes." Mozi nodded in agreement.

"Okay! So where are we going next?" Ding Ke moved his limbs. Although it was cold at night, the wine he drank could warm their bodies up well.

Mozi looked around, then reached out and pointed to the original place.

"Oh? It's really rare. Miss Mozi would actually give me some advice and let me see where?" Ding Ke looked in the direction she pointed, and then was stunned, "Tao? Is there a church? Mozi, do you think the prey is in the church?"

"Yeah." Mozi nodded.

"Okay! Then I believe in Mozi's intuition!"

Ding Ke pulled up his cloak and put on a white hood again, while Mo Zi put on the mask of an ancient helmet, covering the lower half of his face, revealing only a pair of clear and unobstructed black eyes. Then the two walked together towards the direction of the stone tower hidden in the dark night in the distance.

...

Joel reached out and picked up the fish-cutting knife on the ground, and then continued to walk towards the direction where the restroom girl's residence was.

The monster was much faster than Joel thought. He followed the blood and watermarks in the darkness to a black door that he had never seen before. Joel recalled the flooded tomb that Kadiya told him, and guessed that behind the door was the so-called flooded tomb. Logically speaking, the tomb had been sealed, but when Joel reached out to push the door, he found that the door was open. He raised the lantern and shone it into the door. It was a staircase that extended downwards. He just walked in and felt a sensation of wetness and coldness. He continued to walk down the stairs, but the road was blocked by the water.

"He escaped." said the old man's ghost, and then Joel had to turn around.

Hemi had to leave here, Joel told himself, while putting the monster's fish-cutting knife back into his "backpack", a rough steel knife with rust on it, but the blade was sharpened.

"What's going on with that girl?" the old man suddenly asked.

"What?" Joel turned around and looked at the old man, "What do you want to ask."

"About her eyes, and identity." The old man met Joel's gaze directly.

"She got sick and then she couldn't see it." Joel said bitterly, "I want you to help me cure her eyes. Can you do it?"

"I don't know." The old man replied truthfully, "Blindness is not a disease, it is a disability and it is basically impossible to cure it."

Then I don't need you anymore. Joel thought angrily, but he didn't say this. "Isn't it okay to use magic?"

"So I said 'don't know' instead of 'can't,'" the old man replied, "maybe there is a way."

This made Joel feel a little better, and hope is always good.

"So who is she?" the old man continued to ask.

"A child." Joel replied concisely, my child.

"A special child," said the old man seriously, "she is the 'key'."

"What do you mean?" Joel stopped and looked at the old man.

"She has the 'holy blood', and the seal is already connected with her. As long as she leaves the stone tower, the seal will fall apart, and that thing will..."

"Then what you mean is to let her continue to stay in this ghost place without seeing the light of day?!" Joel roared out in a roar, "There is a damn monster running around here! Then you want me to lock her up here because of your boring warning?!"

"It's not a 'boring warning'," the old man warned, "it's a disaster, it's a disaster, and countless people will die!"

"That's your fault!" Joel pointed at him and roared at him, "It was you who released that thing! It was you who set some seal! Now you want a little girl to bear your fault?!"

The old man fell silent. Joel gasped because of the roar, and the wound on his body was also touched by the roar and ached faintly. He turned around and continued to walk in that direction, "I hope you have other ways to make up for it." He said to the old man.

After that, the old man didn't say a word. When Joel turned around, he found that he was still following behind, but seemed to be thinking about something, so Joel didn't care about him anymore.

When he arrived at the door of the restroom girl, Joel calmed down a little. He took a deep breath and pushed the door. He found that the door was bolted, so he knocked on the door.

"Who?" is the voice of the old nun.

"It's me," Joel shouted, his voice now is easy to identify, so he didn't report his identity, "Open the door."

There was a silence inside for a while, then Joel heard a footstep and walked to the door. "Kang, Mr. Kang Ting?" Hemi asked timidly.

"Open the door quickly, Hemi." Joel urged easily.

"No, Mr. Contin." Hermi seemed to take a deep breath, "I can't go with you."

Joel fell silent.

"I can't ignore the safety of the people in Golden Falls." Hemmy said with courage, but Joel could hear her timidity.

"Hermi, open the door, I want to talk to you." Joel said softly patiently.

"Mr. Contin, Miss Hemi will not follow you now," Joel heard the old nun's voice, "please give up."

"Nun, open the door," Joel said coldly, "if you don't open the door, you have to change it."

There was a silence in the door for a while, and just as Joel's patience was about to reach the limit, the sound of lifting the door latch came from the door.

As soon as the door opened was the old nun in front of her, she shouted, "Mr. Kang Ting..."

"Shut up." Joel said to her coldly, then he looked at Hemi, who held the door frame with one hand, and Joel raised the lantern in his hand. The room was dim and there was only a little light of fire burning. Although the two blind people did not need any fire, this scene still made Joel feel distressed. "Hemi," he half-squatted down and looked at his daughter's pale and thin face with a grief. "Hemi, you shouldn't stay here."

"But Mr. Kangting..." Hemi bit his lip and tried to convince him.

"It's not your fault, you're not wrong," Joel told her, "you don't have this obligation, it's something that someone else imposed on you. Those who are dead," Joel glanced at the old nun, "the dying people, they imposed these on you, these responsibilities should not be borne by you. You are just a child, and you don't have to bear so much."

"But Mr. Kang Ting," the old nun interrupted at this time, "According to your words, do you want to put the entire Golden Falls into danger?"

"I'm not from Golden Falls! Neither is Hemi!" Joel looked at the old nun, suppressing his anger, "We don't have to take responsibility for this city that has nothing to do with us!"
