Chapter eight hundred and ninth war escalation

On the Korean battlefield, after a series of land and air wars, the PLA and the US, Japan and South Korea allied forces made great sacrifices. On the Western Front, the armored regiments and the fleet regiments under the 162nd Division of the PLA were almost completely lost and had lost their ability to fight again. However, three mechanized infantry divisions and the 11th armored division, including the 127th, 130th, and 134th, followed the 162nd Division, and the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Division of the US Army were also severely damaged, forcing it to withdraw from the attack on Pyongyang. Now, in conjunction with the US First Cavalry Division and the 1st Marine Division, they retreated to the Songlin area to organize the first line of defense to confront the People's Liberation Army. In the Kaicheng area behind the Songlin defense line, the US military also deployed two support units, the 25th Infantry Division and the 32nd Infantry Division.

On the Eastern Front, the 3rd Armored Division of the PLA first claimed the snatch of people and annihilated the 2nd Korean Marine Division. The 115th and 116th Mechanical Infantry Division of the PLA surrounded the capital mechanized infantry division of the South Korean army in Anbian area with lightning speed. Then the 117th Mechanical Infantry Division held the mountains and the 3rd Armored Division resisted the five infantry divisions of the South Korean army who were moving forward in both directions, creating good conditions for the 115th and 116th Mechanical Infantry Division to wipe out the so-called tiger troops of the South Korean army and the first elite capital mechanized infantry division.

In this way, two of the so-called four elite mechanized infantry divisions of the 200,000 Korean troops on the Eastern Front were annihilated, which made the 39th Army not only smash the South Korean army's attack, but also broke through the South Korean defense line and advanced to Gaocheng, Huaiyang and Xipu in southern Korea, close to the eastern section of the 38th Line. However, due to the fierce battle, the tanks of the PLA 3rd Armored Division, which was responsible for the blocking mission, also lost more than one-third of the tanks. The 117th Mechanical Infantry Division even fought the division's armored regiments under the fierce attack of the South Korean army. After annihilation of the Mechanized Infantry Division of the South Korean Army's capital, the PLA temporarily lost the ability to break through the 38th Line.

As for the air force, the main Air Force 1st Air Division, 11th Air Division, 21st Air Division and 30th Air Division of the Northeast War Zone of the People's Liberation Army took turns to attack. Although they achieved brilliant results in annihilation of nearly 200 enemy fighters, they suffered heavy losses. The battle suffered more than 250 fighters, forcing the General Staff to move the Air Division eastward to make up for the shortcomings of the Air Force in the Northeast War Zone and North Korea. Fortunately, most of the air combat was carried out in North Korean airspace, more than half of the more than 250 fighter jets damaged by the People's Liberation Army were successfully rescued by the People's Army.

The pilots of the US, Japan and South Korea are much more miserable. Since most of them are hit by more than two missiles at the same time, the probability of being able to parachutize and escape is less than one-third. Even if they successfully parachutize and escape, most of the pilots will fall into the hands of the People's Army. Now the People's Army, which has a population of up to 200,000, has been scattered into battalion-level teams in the narrow zone north of the 38th parallel and south of Pyongyang. On the one hand, it performs guerrilla missions, and on the other hand, it engages in reconnaissance and search missions, becoming the eyes of the People's Liberation Army.

Although these troops were completely unable to compete with the frontal attacks of the US and South Korean ground mechanized troops, they were very good at sneak attacking outposts or logistics supplies detachments of the US and South Korean troops with their familiarity with the local terrain and public support. They could do something when they were concentrated at critical moments. The PLA was able to siege the mechanized infantry division of the South Korean army's capital in Anbian, thanks to the intelligence of the People's Army and the three infantry regiments of the People's Army blocked the Korean army's retreat for three hours, giving the PLA a chance to trap the elite Korean army. In this blocking battle, the three infantry regiments that the People's Army temporarily gathered were almost completely wiped out.

Therefore, whether on land or in the air, in the first phase of the battle, the PLA and the US, Japan and South Korea were both in a subtle balance, and both sides began a new round of dispatching troops.

Due to insufficient troops, the US military began to transfer the National Guard Division and Reserve Division into active service, forming 5 new armored divisions (brigades) and 10 mechanized infantry divisions. In addition to leaving half to strengthen local defense, the US military sent three armored divisions (brigades) and five mechanized infantry divisions to the Asian battlefield, including the 49th Armored Division and the 155th Armored Brigade, and the 28th, 29th and 34th Mechanized Infantry Divisions to the Korean Peninsula after the reorganization was completed, while the 116th Armored Brigade and the 84th and 85th Mechanized Infantry Divisions reinforced the Pakistani battlefield and prepared to be sent to India to Gujrat and Rajasthan in India.

As for the People's Liberation Army, after receiving the internal intelligence of the US military's increase in troops, the General Staff intelligence department also took tit-for-tat measures to mobilize the 1st Army and the 12th Army of the Central China Military Region, which are now in the interior, to head north.

After the outbreak of the Diaoyutai Battle and the return of Taiwan, the PLA military regions experienced a round of large-scale new transformation movement. In this round of transformation, the 1st Army upgraded according to the standards of the Class A field army, and formed three main divisions of the First Amphibious Mechanized Infantry Division and the Second and Third Division of the Mechanized Infantry Division. In addition, there were also the 10th Armored Brigade and the 9th Artillery Brigade composed of ZTZ-99S, the 5th Army Air Force Brigade and the Air Defense Missile Brigade. The entire army was nearly 80,000 people, and it was one of the main forces of the PLA.

The 12th Army consists of two mechanized infantry divisions and five brigades, the 34th Division and the 36th Division, including the 2nd Armored Brigade of ZTZ-99A2, the 36th and 179th Brigade of All-terrain mechanized infantry, as well as the military artillery brigade and air defense missile brigade, with more than 60,000 troops in the entire army. With these two armies entering North Korea to participate in the war.

In this way, on the Korean battlefield, the People's Liberation Army invested nearly 400,000 main troops of five armies, which was basically the same as the total number of the US-South Korea coalition army after the US military increased its troops. In addition, the 300,000 remaining People's Army in North Korea, the People's Liberation Army and the People's Army have far surpassed the US-South Korea coalition army in terms of army forces. However, the main force of the People's Army was basically composed of light infantry augmented artillery, and the combat effectiveness in front of modern mechanized armored infantry was seriously insufficient. One was to guard the border. Three infantry regiments of the People's Army blocked a mechanized infantry regiment of the South Korean army and almost wiped out the troops in just 3 hours, which occupied favorable terrain in advance, which fully demonstrated that the human sea tactics were increasingly ineffective in modern warfare.

On the Pakistani battlefield, facing the US military's aggressive new round of military re-emergence plan and the Indian army's siege plan to control southern Tibet, the General Staff is preparing to mobilize the main forces of the 13th Army, except for the two mountain divisions entering southern Tibet, to pass through the Qinghai-Tibet Railway artery, and prepare to transfer to the Ali area. Together with the two divisions (brigades) of the 21st Army that arrived earlier, enter Kashmir, Pakistan. Part of the plan is to enter southern Pakistan's defense, and part of the attack on India from Kashmir region to relieve the pressure on the two mountain divisions in southern Tibet.

The 13th Army is a field army formed in accordance with the requirements of mountain combat. After the latest reorganization, it has under its jurisdiction, the 37th, 38th, 39th and 149th mountain divisions, as well as the 2nd Army Air Force Brigade, Special Operations Brigade, Armored Brigade, Artillery Brigade, Air Defense Missile Brigade, and more than 70,000 people in the entire army. It is the main force of the People's Liberation Army's mountain combat. Among them, the 37th and 38th mountain divisions have entered the Indian-controlled southern Tibet war zone in advance and achieved a brilliant record of defeating the 100,000 defenders of the Indian army.

This time, the increase in troops was mainly composed of two mountain divisions and five brigades of the 39th Division and the 149th Division under the 12th Army, plus the 61st Mechanized Infantry Division and the 12th Armored Brigade of the 21st Army, and entered Pakistan for combat. In this way, with the 52nd and 53rd Mountain Divisions that entered Kashmir in advance, the PLA's troops in Pakistan increased to 5 divisions and 7 brigades. As the 10th Mountain Division of the US Army was severely damaged, the 84th and 85th Mechanized Infantry Divisions were two light mechanized divisions. Therefore, after the two sides completed the increase in troops, the PLA's troops in Pakistan were exactly the same as those of the 5th Division and 2 brigades of the US Army.

However, in this way, the PLA sent more than 500,000 troops to carry out external operations. It can be said that it has basically reached the limit of the use of the PLA's military force. If Taiwan had not had the successful return of hundreds of thousands of troops to form a new Southeast Military Region, and the southeast direction was less prepared to be the defensive force needed by the confidant of Taiwan, facing such a large-scale attack by the US military, the PLA would have to let it be occupied by the US military, and would never have been able to support it as it is now.

It can be said that the leader No. 1 and Vice Chairman Liu were determined to take back Taiwan first, but they did have a long-term vision and gained an extremely valuable start in the game of big chess with the United States.

However, in this way, the PLA's logistics immediately became tight. The Korean battlefield had two trunk lines, railways and highways, and the troops entering southern Tibet and Pakistan only provided a few mountain roads and air transportation. With the weak foundation of the newly built air force strategic transport aircraft fleet, the General Staff decided to form a joint combat group with two aircraft carriers, organize a huge transport fleet, set out from the South China Sea, cross the Malacca Strait and the Indian Ocean, and make an expedition to Pakistan.

This is a strategic decision full of huge risks, because in the South China Sea, the US military is currently staying in a huge battle group composed of two aircraft carriers, eyeing them. Once the PLA Navy's dual aircraft carrier formation goes to sea, will it be followed and pursued by the US aircraft carrier battle group? No one is sure?
