Chapter 3 Persuasion (Part 2)
Slughorn let out a few unidentified hums when he heard this.
"Dumbledore, I don't like to hear you, what does it mean to have no choice?" Slughorn shrugged and spread his hands. "No matter who is missing in this world, it is the same. Merlin used to be a Muggle protector, but what happened? Merlin almost died in the hands of those Muggles protected by him. Dumbledore, you are old, who do you think you can save?"
Speaking of this, Slughorn suddenly stood up excitedly, "You have done enough, Dumbledore, you have saved the world once, what else do you want to do? Go and fight the Dark Lord?"
"It seems they have already looked for you," Dumbledore said.
"Of course." Slughorn said viciously.
"Which side?" Dumbledore's expression became a little strange.
"There are on both sides." Slughorn whispered, his voice becoming quick, "Two Dark Lords, Dumbledore, are you crazy? You can't handle a Dark Lord at the time. He is not Greenward!"
"I do not succumb to power and violence, just like you," Dumbledore said. "Didn't you answer them? I think they want you to use your intelligence to suppress, torture and murder."
"Thank you for your reminder, Dumbledore," Slughorn said angrily, "I certainly couldn't agree, but I know if I say no, I'm afraid my life will be explained. For the past few months, I've been in a place for no more than a week. I've moved from one Muggle house to another Muggle house, the owner of this house is on vacation in the Canary Islands. I live here very comfortably and I really can't bear to leave. Once I find the trick, it's easy. They don't use a glimpse of the mirror, but use those ridiculous anti-theft alarms, you just need to cast a frozen spell on it, and don't let the neighbors see it when moving the piano in."
"That's so clever," said Dumbledore, "but. Isn't this kind of life too tiring for an unhealthy old guy who wants to live a quiet life? Think about it, if you go back to Hogwarts--"
"If you want to tell me that I will live a more peaceful life in that annoying school, Albus, you might as well save your energy and stop talking about it!" Slughorn snapped, "I can hide until now not because of my superb spells, but because they have not given up their fantasy. Once they find that I stand opposite them, I will die sooner or later."
"But you're just a chronic suicide when you drag it like this, Horas."
"I'm old. Dumbledore, maybe I'll die before they find me, so that everything will be peaceful."
Dumbledore stood up.
"Are you leaving?" Slughorn asked immediately with anticipation.
"No, I just want to ask if I can use your bathroom," Dumbledore said.
"Oh," Slughorn said, obviously disappointed, "follow the foyer, the second door on the left is."
Dumbledore walked towards the other end of the room. After the door closed behind him, the room calmed down. After a moment, Slughorn stood up, but seemed unsure of what to do. He glanced at Silver, then strode to the fireplace, turned his back to the fire, baking his big ass.
"Don't think I don't know why he brought you." He suddenly said.
Silver smiled politely, "Why is that?"
Slughorn whispered, "Ah, Dumbledore knows my bad habits - I like to teach those smart kids with promising futures. I thought he would bring Harry Potter, but I didn't expect it was you."
"But I know what Dumbledore means. Indeed, you are better and have a bright future than Harry Potter," said Slughorn. "I know you, the heir of the ancient and noble but vibrant Silver family, the winner of the Triple Championship, the genius who escaped his life from the most dangerous dark wizards in the world, you have done many things that adult wizards cannot do. You are excellent, Jack Silver Harry Potter is even more famous than you, but he is not as good as you."
"Thank you for your compliment, Mr. Slughorn, I have long admired your name." Silver responded modestly.
"You look more like your mother." Slughorn looked at Silver. "I have taught your mother—and of course, too. Ha—not that your father Selvi is not good enough, but that he is far inferior to your mother Vinika."
"I agree with you." Silver nodded, "My father generally has no status at home."
Slughorn laughed, "Yes, of course, as a teacher, you shouldn't prefer students, but some students are really great. Your mother is one of the smartest students I have ever taught. If you have to find a witch similar to her, you must mention Lily Evans, who is Harry Potter's mother. I often regret why these two outstanding witches are not in my academy."
"Because you already have many outstanding students." Silver compliments without leaving any trace.
"Ah, you're right." He jumped up with a smug smile on his face, pointing to the many shiny frames on the cabinet, each with a moving little man in it.
"These are all my former students, all signed photos. You will see Barnabas Gufei, the editor of the Daily Prophet, who is always interested in listening to my opinions on the current situation. And Ambrose Frum of the Duke of the Bee, every year he will give me a gift basket, because I introduced him to Cicelon Hakis, and he got his first job! And the back - you can see it with your neck - it is Gwenog Jones, the captain of the Holyhead Habi... People often wonder why I have such a good relationship with the members of the Hubby, and I can get a ticket that is not expensive if I want!"
Speaking of this, he seemed to be in a big mood.
"So these people still know where to find you and can give you something?" Silver asked.
The smile on Slughorn's face suddenly disappeared, just like the blood on the wall just now.
"Of course not," he said, looking down at Silver, "I haven't contacted them for a long time."
"But... these days, cautious wizards try not to show up. Dumbledore's statement makes sense, but at this time, he is to openly announce that I am the Order of the Phoenix! Although I believe they are brave and fearless and admirable, I don't like to be one of the insignificant cold numbers in the death statistics, after all, their enemies are so terrible."
"But Hogwarts has a much higher safety factor than other places. Professor Slughorn Dumbledore is now the Minister of Magic. I believe he will take more favorable measures to ensure the safety of faculty and staff. The new principal Sclinger is also an experienced Auror. I think the safety of teachers and students on campus will be guaranteed." Silver said.
Slughorn came out for a while and seemed to be thinking about Silver's words carefully.
"No." He shook his head stubbornly, "If there was only one demon, I might have agreed, but it was bad that the demon who could not even mention his name had some trouble in his immortality experiment. Now even if Merlin is resurrected, I am afraid that it will not be solved. To be honest, when I learned that there were two demons looking for me, my first thought was to break myself up."
