Chapter 4 Persuasion (2)

"Mr. Slughorn, what you said makes sense." Silver nodded, "but the Order will not face these two terrible enemies at the same time."

"What does it mean?" said Slughorn. "Do you think the Order of Phoenix can benefit? This is impossible - now there is no even situation between the two black demons, and the Order of Phoenix has no chance. Will you cooperate with one of the black demons? This is not realistic at all."

"In fact, we've tried this," Silver said.

Slughorn gloated, "That must have been a failure. The black devil is a capricious guy and will not keep any promises."

"But it's better than doing nothing, Mr. Slughorn," said Silver.

"I don't like to waste my energy," Slughorn said stubbornly.

Dumbledore walked into the house again, and Slughorn was startled, as if he had forgotten that Dumbledore had not left the house.

"Oh, you're back, Albus," he said, "You've been there for quite a while, have you had a stomachache?"

"No, I just flipped through those Muggle magazines," Dumbledore said. "I love sweater knitting patterns. OK, Jack, we've been bothering Horas for a long time, and I think we should go."

Silver readily obeyed and immediately stood up. Slughorn seemed to be surprised.

"Are you leaving?"

"Yes. I think I can see that the defeat is decided," Dumbledore said.

"Yeah, you finally understand." Slughorn breathed a sigh of relief, "I have the right to live the life I want."

"I wish you a happy life, Horas." Dumbledore said to Slughorn, "You should be more careful, Horas. Your whereabouts are no longer a secret, and many people are staring at you. If you want to enjoy your retirement more happily, please be careful and careful."

"My God. Dumbledore, what are you talking about?" Slughorn seemed very uneasy. He fiddled with two fat thumbs and looked anxiously as Dumbledore wrapped his travel cloak tightly.

"Oh, I'm sorry you won't accept this job, Horas," Dumbledore said, raising his uninjured hand and saying goodbye. "If you can come back, Hogwarts will be very happy. We have greatly strengthened security precautions, but you would rather deal with the black forces for a free life. I personally admire your courage. But Hogwarts' doors are always open to you, and you are welcome to come and have a look."

"Oh? I mean?"

"See you goodbye," Dumbled the head without looking back.

"Goodbye," said Harry.

As soon as they walked to the front door, they heard a shout coming from behind.

"Okay, okay, I'll do it!"

Dumbledore turned around and saw Slughorn standing panting at the door of the living room.

"Would you like to come out and work again?"

"Yeah, yeah," Slughorn said impatiently, "I must be crazy. But yeah, I do."

"That's great," Dumbledore was immediately delighted, "Then, Horas, Hogwarts welcomes you--although I can't welcome you as a principal this year, but as a minister, too."

"Okay, no problem," Slughorn muttered.

As they walked on the garden trail, Slughorn's voice came from behind.

"I'll ask for a salary increase, Dumbledore! Don't think I don't know, Hogwarts is now owned by the Ministry of Magic. I'm asking for double salary, and you have to send more Aurors to protect Hogwarts' safety."

Dumbledore chuckled softly. The garden door closed automatically behind them, and they walked down the mountain through the dark fog.

"Good job, Jack," Dumbledore said.

"I failed, Minister Dumbledore." Jack Silver said in a light tone. "Mr. Slughorn does not have much hope for the Order of the Phoenix. He was frightened by the two black demons. If you hadn't scared him hard in the end, he wouldn't have changed his words."

"No, you succeeded. Your appearance changed Horas's mind," Dumbledore said.

"But he refused at the beginning."

"Horas is a wizard with a strong vanity - of course, he has a bad heart. He just likes material enjoyment, making friends with famous, successful, powerful people, and he likes the feeling of being at his mercy. He never wants to be in power, but prefers to be in a secondary position - so that the world is wider and more at ease. When he was at Hogwarts, he always liked to choose his favorite students, sometimes because of their ambitions or wisdom, sometimes because of their charm or talent, and he has a very unusual ability to always choose those who will make their mark in all walks of life in the future." Dumbledore said.

"But he is more afraid of death than these things, Minister."

"Who can't be afraid of death? Jack, a wizard like Hollas who is obsessed with the material enjoyment of the world. He may have lived enough of hiding in the past few months. If he continues like this, Hollas will definitely feel that it's better to die. You must know that Hollas's origin is not simple. He is one of the few wizards in Britain who participated in the last war, and he does not lack the courage to fight to the death." Dumbledore said, "He is a very capable wizard. His unwillingness to participate in the fight does not mean that he has no temper."

"I don't know that Mr. Slughorn has such a glorious past."

"You have to call him Professor Slughorn now," Dumbledore said. "The last war did not affect Britain, so the British wizards were not very impressed by the last war. People only knew that I finally stood up and defeated Greenward, but no one figured out more details."

"It sounds like Slughorn has also played a very important role?"
