Chapter 8 The Legend of the Chamber of Secrets

For several days, the students talked about Mrs. Loris's attack all day long. Felch's performance made everyone unable to forget this. He often paced around the place where Mrs. Loris was killed, as if he thought the attacker would come again. He used "Mrs. Scol's universal magic detergent" to scrub the words on the wall, but it was useless: the words still flashed so brightly on the stone wall. If Felch was not patrolling the crime scene, he stared at two red eyes and secretly hid in the corridor, and then suddenly rushed to the unprepared students, trying every possible way to find excuses to keep them in the confinement, such as "gasping too loudly" or "smile."

Harry and Ron were very grateful to Silver for helping them to help them get the ball. This made their relationship a lot.

"I heard a voice, and I heard the same voice last time in Lockhart's office, and the voice said he was going to kill someone. But Lockhart and Ron said they didn't hear it." Harry said.

"Even in the wizarding world, hearing others cannot hear sounds is not a good sign. Muggles think this is the call of death, and we understand it as the arrival of doom," Silver said.

"So should we tell Dumbledore and let him deal with it?" Ron said.

"I don't think this is necessary. Because this matter doesn't make sense. You asked Harry to say to Professor Dumbledore: Hey, professor, I heard a voice that others could not hear, and that voice said they were going to kill. The attack must be the one that voice was causing the tragedy. Will Dumbledore believe it?" Silver shook his head.

"What should we do?"

"Let it go naturally, professors will deal with this kind of thing. We are just second-year students, so we don't need to worry about it."

This incident also had a great impact on Hermione. She had to spend a lot of time reading books in the library every day, but she was always missing in the past two days. It was not until the second Wednesday that Silver figured out what she was doing.

Hermione walked out of the bookshelf. She looked very annoyed.

"Several books of Hogwarts, a school history have been borrowed," she said, sitting down next to Silver. "The person who registered for borrowing has been queued for two weeks. Alas, I wish I hadn't left my book at home, but the box contained so many thick books from Lockhart, and I could never put it in."

"Why do you want to read this book?" Silver asked.

"Same reason why others want to see it," said Hermione, "check out the legend about the secret room."

"You can ask me about the secret room. I dare say that there are not many people in Hogwarts who know better than me," said Silver.

"Then why didn't you say it earlier?" Hermione was a little annoyed.

"But you didn't ask earlier." Silver looked innocent.

They did not lower their voices, and the students in the library heard the words "secret room". Silver suddenly felt that the people around him were crowding with each other - almost everyone could surround him.

Mrs. Pins, the librarian, coughed loudly: "Silver, pay attention to the order of the library, I will only give you ten minutes."

Silver nodded and said, "If you want to talk about the secret room, we must start with the founding of Hogwarts. You all know that the Hogwarts School was founded more than a thousand years ago - the specific date is uncertain - the founder was the four greatest male and female wizards at that time. The four academies were named after them: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Royna Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin. They jointly built the castle away from the peeking eyes of the Muggles, because in that era, the common people were afraid of magic and the male and female wizards were subjected to a lot of persecution."

The audience said they had known this passage for a long time and strongly demanded the point. "In the first few years, several founders worked harmoniously together, looking for young people who showed signs of magic, and brought them to the castle to train them well. But slowly, there was a disagreement between them. The rift between Slytherin and others became increasingly bigger. Slytherin hoped that Hogwarts would be more picky when recruiting students. He believed that magic education should be limited to purely magic families. He was unwilling to accept children born by Muggles, thinking that they were unreliable. After some days, Slytherin and Gryffindor had a fierce quarrel over this issue, and then Slytherin left the school."

"Okay, the orthodox historical materials record these." Silver said.

The audience expressed strong dissatisfaction. Silver said: "Silent, I will talk about the secret room below. The secret room is a legend. No one can be sure whether it exists, so there is no record in historical materials. Legend has it that Slytherin built a secret room in the castle, and the other founders knew nothing about it. According to this legend, Slytherin closed the secret room so that no one could open it until his true heir came to the school. Only that he could open the secret room, release the horror things inside, let it purify the school, and remove all those who are not worthy of learning magic."

The story is over. The library is silent.

"Of course, Hogwarts's principals have worked hard to find it in the school, but they have not found anything. So many people think that the legend of the secret room is nonsense. But many people think that the secret room does exist. Salazar Slytherin is not only a powerful wizard, but he is also very good at taming monsters and building secret places. If the descendants of Slytherin do not appear, the secret room will never be opened." Silver said.

"Then have no wizards found any trace?" someone asked.

"Absolutely, no principal would let a monster stay in the secret room threaten the student. Even if there was only a little trace, the monster's body had been placed in the Hogwarts medal showroom. Silver said affirmatively.

"Maybe it must be used to open it with vicious black magic."

"I heard that some institutions must use special means to open them at a specific time."

"Yes, I heard that the Bincy family once had a secret room. If you want to open it, you have to apply most of the blood of the direct heir to the mechanism."

...

Mrs. Pins began to shout angrily: "You little bastards, ten minutes have arrived! Go out and go out!"

So the students who knew they were in trouble ran out of the library and continued to discuss along the way—

"What do you think of the monsters in this secret room? Will there be three heads, each with three eyes?"

"Nonsense, this monster has five heads"

… (Does wizards comment on the strength of monsters based on the number of heads?)

"Hermione, go to the scene where the cat was attacked. I think I have some guesses that I need to go there to confirm it." Silver ran to find Hermione after class.

They turned a corner and found that they had arrived at the top of the corridor where the attack occurred. The scene in front of them was the same as that night, but the petrified cat was no longer hung on the torch stand, and leaning against an empty chair on the wall with the words "The secret room was opened."

Silver noticed that there were about twenty spiders crawling in panic on the top of the wall, as if eager to get out of a small gap in the glass. A long silver wire hung down like a rope, and it seemed that they were rushing up through this wire and fleeing out the window.

"The spider is running away." Silver muttered.

"Do you remember the stall of water on the ground at that time? Where did it come from? Someone dragged it across the floor," Silver said.

"It's probably here," said Hermione, walking a few steps past Felch's chair and pointing it to Silver, "parallel to this door." She reached out to grab the brass ball handle, but suddenly retracted her hand, as if it was burned by fire.

"What's wrong?" Silver asked.

"This is the territory of the crying Myrtle. She is in trouble. You will know when you come in." Hermione said, ignoring the big sign with the words "Fault" and pushing open the door.

This is a very dark and dullest place. Under a large mirror with mottled stains and cracks, there is a row of stone-built pools with peeling surfaces. The floor is wet, and a few candle heads are burning low on the brackets, emitting a dim light, illuminating the floor. The paint of the wooden doors in the single room is peeling off and covered with scratches; the hinges of a door are disengaged and staggered there.

Hermione covered her mouth with her hands and walked towards the innermost room. When she arrived at the door, she said, "Hey, Myrtle. How are you?"

The crying Myrtle was floating in the tank of the toilet, pulling a place on her chin.

"This is a girl's bathroom," she said, looking at Silver with suspicious eyes, "he's not a girl."

"Yes," Hermione agreed, "I want to bring him to see how beautiful it is here."

She waved vaguely to the dirty old mirror and the wet floor.

"Did you see anything before the attack that day?" Silver asked.

Myrtle said exaggeratedly, "At the sacrificial party, Pipi Ghost tortured me so violently, I ran here to commit suicide. Later, of course, I remembered that I was already-I already----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"It's indeed the crying Myrtle, as his name is," said Silver.

But Hermione shrugged lazily and said, "To be honest, this is a pleasant one for Myrtle... Come on, let's go."
