Chapter 7 IQ is too high

The University of Chicago is a private university founded by John Rockefeller in 1891. It is a co-educational, religious-free research university. Several teachers and students of the school have won the Nobel Prize.

Part of the results of the Manhattan Project were achieved at this university. In 1942, they built the world's first controlled nuclear reactor in the squash hall of the University of Chicago, making it reach a critical state and producing a controllable nuclear fission chain reaction.

This is an important milestone in the atomic energy era, laying the foundation for the birth of the atomic bomb two years later, and the University of Chicago is therefore called the "birthplace of atomic energy."

American oil tycoon Rockefeller once boasted: "My best investment is the University of Chicago!"

Alex knew that their destination was the University of Chicago, but he didn't know the $500 compensation. He thought that the two professors convinced his parents. Sitting in the vehicle sent by the University of Chicago, he looked through the car window and looked at the streets and pedestrians outside. Along the way, he heard only the words of the Carpenters and his wife, and everyone's interest in talking was not very high.

In the United States in the 1940s, it was during the period of great development that many streets in Chicago were also under construction. However, the future prosperity can be seen, with various shops coming and going. Old-fashioned billboards shining and attracting attention under the sunshine.

The weather today is very good, the sun is shining warmly on people. After getting off the car, under the guidance of the people sent by the school, the Carpenters' family walked on a boulevard on the university campus. On both sides of the road covered with pebbles, half a person-high shrubs were planted, and next to the shrubs were neat palm trees. The sunlight penetrated the lush forest and sprinkled on them. The spots of light were like veils draped on their bodies, and they could touch them with your hands.

After walking a long way, they came to a building. This was a research building, and many people in white coats came in and out. Soon, Alex saw the experts who were in charge of the test. There were five people in total, as if they were all professors from university. They heard that a child with a very high IQ was coming to the test. Curiously, they all came over to take a look.

In this era, I was very enthusiastic about IQ testing. It is said that some people calculated that Leonardo da Vinci's IQ was as high as 220, but no one had seen it. Einstein, the great scientist of this era, had tested it, and he was only 160 IQ.

After a few greetings, the test began. They took out the chronograph and test questions. Alex was asked to do various questions at the fastest speed. These questions were all kinds of strange, some were simple, some were complicated, and some were quite difficult.

Fortunately, Alex has super powers, and under this ability, Alex can almost find the answer. Even if there is no answer, Alex will use "simulated memory" to simulate the smartest person he thinks, and use the method of simulating others' thinking to do the questions.

After the question was completed and the test was completed, the professors immediately calculated Alex's IQ. They quickly came up with the result, but the number was very amazing.

"Oh my God, it actually reached 220!" A professor couldn't help but exclaimed on the spot.

Some people also said in disbelief: "Is there a test wrong? How could it be that high?"

"Maybe the IQ calculation formula is wrong, and when the person being tested is too old, the greater the IQ deviation calculated."

"No, I think there is no error in the formula. It is because I have chosen the wrong question. It is impossible to test the IQ by just doing the questions. Various means must be combined, such as testing whether the thinking response is agile, testing language ability, memory ability, etc."

Everyone was quarreling and talking about their opinions. In this era, some people were very superstitious about IQ tests, while others thought this test was unscientific. Especially when Alex's test scores as high as 220 points, they also had some doubts whether the score was accurate or not.

Some people also wanted to test it again, but were rejected by the Carpenters. Especially Angel, she was worried that this test would cause psychological pressure on Alex.

"We're leaving now! You guys don't help at all!"

Angel was angry, and she insisted on going back immediately. Bart and Alex didn't want to stay for a while, as the people here were too terrifying.

Alex found that after these professors calculated, their eyes looked at him differently. He even wondered whether these professors were planning to use him as a white mouse in their hearts. Why were their eyes a little scary?

After doing this, Alex's name as a genius was finally confirmed. The Carpenters became more and more accustomed to him and asked him to do what they wanted. Especially Angel, she always valued her son.

"This must be God's gift, a meaningful gift!" Angel murmured to himself.

The professors surrounded Alex and tried to find something from him, but were stopped by the Carpenters. They told them not to target Alex like this, and they emphasized that they should not tell the results of this test. The Carpenters did not want their son to live in a life of being watched since childhood. This would not only bother the children, but also the adults, who were also annoyed.

"The test must have gone wrong! The test method must be modified, and the calculation formula must be adjusted."

"It's better to let this kid test it with a new question to see how big the error is!"

Just as they were arguing, the Carpenters quietly left the University of Chicago. Before going back, Bart received the compensation for the test from a professor. What made them even more happy was that Alex had no problem, but his IQ was too high.

Regarding this IQ issue, the professors argued. Some people said there was a problem with the test method, some people said there was a problem with the calculation formula, and some people simply denied the correctness of the IQ test. In any case, they believed that Alex's IQ was indeed higher than that of ordinary children, and no one could be sure of how much higher it was.

Even the experts couldn't determine what they were, Alex was even more confused. He knew that his memory was super strong, and he could simulate other people's thinking, etc. However, what he didn't expect was that he actually gave him an IQ of 220. He didn't think he was smart, he was still him, and he didn't think he could write a theory that was more powerful than relativity.

The Carpenters are ordinary people, their ideas are simpler, and they are considering the question of how to educate their children.

"Angele, what do you think Alex will learn?"

After returning home, Bart couldn't wait to ask his wife. He was thinking about this question on the way.

Angel was a little surprised after hearing this. After all, Bart had never cared about Alex's education before. She said: "As long as Alex is interested, you can learn anything."

"Are you interested?" Bart murmured, and then left thoughtfully.

What Alex didn't know was that in order to better cultivate him, his parents secretly discussed it many times. At this time, he was still immersed in his own abilities. He found that as his body grew, he became more and more proficient in the use of his abilities.

One day, he suddenly thought about whether he could freely change the content in his memory. For example, he wrote a poem today, and when he recalls tomorrow, he would modify the content of the poem in his memory. If he could modify it, he could create in his mind and take it out after everything was done.

At the beginning, he found that this idea was a bit outrageous. However, he still tried to do it. He found that his memories could indeed be modified, and he could still recall them after modification.

At the beginning, he just modified the text, and slowly, he involved colors, light, objects, etc. in the memory scene. However, a few days later, he found that the memory he had modified would return to its original state.

"What's going on?" Alex was puzzled. He had clearly modified his memories of the past, and he also remembered that he had changed it, but his memory had actually changed back.

"Is this like memory metal, which will recover after a while?"

His past memories have a correction effect. When he no longer concentrates on the modified memories, he will soon return to the original state of his memory.

Finally, he was no longer satisfied with recalling past memories. He wanted to create a memory scene by himself. Only in this way can he create a memory scene that will not be restored to its original state after modification.

So he closed his eyes and conceived an object, which could be any object. Putting this object into a blank scene, he could control the size, shape, color, etc. through his thinking. He could even feel the material, weight, temperature of the object...

Alex found that he was just too exhausting to do such things. He usually needed to reach the level of memory of the five senses in order to freely control the objects in the memory scene he created. In this way, he could only last for a short period of time every day, slowly enriching the things in the scene.

In this way, he was constantly creating and modifying, and soon he created a memory scene that never existed in reality.

"Damn it! Isn't this the so-called virtual space? Or a semi-independent plane?"

Alex was stunned when he was in the memory scene he created. This was very similar to the personal space described in the novel. Except that he could not put objects in reality inside, it was no different from real space.

In order to save energy, Alex created the scene in a room. In this room, there are doors, windows, tables, TVs, beds, quilts, wardrobes, toilets, etc. The sun shines through the windows into the house, looking out from the inside, the brightest moment before the sunset sets.

Things outside the house are just realistic sets, which Alex extracted from memory, not as real as what he created. However, this is already amazing, Alex feels like he has more space to go to. Everything he does in this space will be preserved, not as restored as the memory scenes of the past.

Alex didn't know what it was for creating this personal space. The biggest advantage was that he could hide here to rest. Gradually, he felt that it was meaningless. It was said that it was a rest, but it was actually more tiring. After all, when opening the space, he needed five senses.
