Chapter 98 The mountains and seas are far apart
Mozi can understand those ecliptics, equator, axis inclination and other things that ordinary people cannot understand, so the doubts are even deeper.
One day after Shi finished telling the "Biography of Emperor Mu" to the Mozhes, Mozi made two balls with wood, used candles as the sun, and simulated the solar eclipse, lunar eclipse, spring, summer, autumn and winter with his hands according to Shi's theory, and then called Shi over.
Shi understood what Mozi asked him to ask. If Mozi could not accept these things, I am afraid that even fewer people in the world would be able to accept them.
After entering, Mo Zi was staring at the two wooden balls and suddenly said, "That day, you said that the shadows would not move, and I said that verification should be the first. Can this be considered a debate topic?"
Shi replied: "Yes. This can be used as a debate topic to spread the world and invite famous scholars from all over the world to argue. If they don't accept it, I will convince them with facts."
Mo Zi smiled and said, "It's hard. You can explain that there is no destiny, I'm very happy. Judging from what you said about spring, summer, autumn and winter, if I keep going north, there will be places where summer is day and night, and winter is dark and sunny?"
Shi looked at the tilted wooden ball in Mozi's hand and the candle that was "sun". He admired him and nodded, "That's it."
Mo Zi sighed and said, "If this is true, then it is reasonable. This is not difficult. If it really shocks the world, you can send people to the extreme north."
Shi thought Mozi was supporting him, but he didn't expect Mozi's last words to make Shi completely stunned.
"You have learned a lot with the two hermits. You respect the virtuous, love both, not attack, practice righteousness, and be in harmony with the will of heaven... I see all these. But I rarely hear you talk about ghosts and gods. In this book "Shan Hai Sutra", you describe a great world, and those countries do not worship the ghosts and gods here, and the ghosts and gods they worship are not what we know. So we can infer that there are no ghosts and gods in the world. Is that true?"
Shi knew that Mozhe believed in the sayings of ghosts and gods. When he heard Mozi ask this, he was a little at a loss and didn't know how to answer.
He really didn't expect that Mozi's reasoning could lead to his unconscious thoughts. If the world is not so big but so big, then will the ghosts and gods sacrificed here govern the entire world? If not, why can those kingdoms that do not sacrifice to the ghosts and gods here win or fail?
Seeing that Mo Zi didn't answer, he sighed again and said, "I once said: People have committed acts of lust, riots, and thieves. They also held weapons, poisons, and water and fire to stop innocent people on all roads, and robbed others of carriages, horses, clothes and furs to think they were seeking profits. It was because they did not pay attention to the affairs of ghosts and gods."
"So I said that although there are deep streams and forests, there is no place for a quiet stream, and the implementation must be done, and ghosts and gods will look at it."
"I thought that if everyone believed in their every move and was stared at by ghosts and gods, then he would do good deeds and act righteously, rather than doing bad things and causing trouble. So even in the mountains, you should not be careless. I thought this was one of the ways to stabilize the world."
"Why should people be afraid of something unknown? If you are fearless... is it a good thing?"
"You can explain the earth and the unpredictable moon under your feet, but you don't mention a word of ghosts and gods, so you don't believe in ghosts and gods, is that true?"
After thinking about it, he replied: "Sir, don't you think that ghosts and gods exist for the sake of great governance in the world? If the world's great governance and ghosts and gods exist, you can only choose one, which one do you choose?"
Mo Zi smiled and said, "You don't have to ask me like this. I don't question your qualifications as a Mo. There are many Mo who doubt the existence of ghosts and gods, but there are no Mo who does not practice righteousness. I can tell which one is more important. I just think that those two hermits will always know something to resolve my confusion."
Shi asked tentatively: "Are you really confused?"
Mo Zi replied: "If the princes and nobles believe that ghosts and gods exist, will there be no unjust war? The heavenly ambition I mentioned is sometimes not the same as the heavenly ambition you mentioned, but what you said makes sense, and it is also a kind of heavenly ambition. I said to listen to the heavenly ambition for the princes and nobles: God likes people to love others, not unjust wars, hopes people love each other, and hopes that people will not be divided into levels because of their bloodline..."
"If there is no such ambition, if there is no ghost or god... Before you become a Mozhe, I have been hesitating about what to use to restrain these princes and nobles and let them do things that are beneficial to the world."
Shi had already felt a little smell. Before he joined Moz, it was when Moz had seriously ill and the saying that ghosts and gods were suspected.
Mozi said that before he joined, he couldn't figure out how to fulfill his ideas to restrain the princes and nobles, and emphasized that Shi had not become the Mo master.
Mozi couldn't think of a reason why princes and nobles could happily accept the principle that everyone is equal and mutually loving, so he wanted to use ghosts and gods and tell them that this is what God likes.
But in fact, Shi was very clear that if you want princes and nobles to accept the principle of equality for everyone, there is no way to accept it "pleasantly" except to beat them to accept it.
It is absolutely impossible not to kill a person's head and blood flow into a river. It is impossible to be happy, nor can it not be bleeding. Nothing can be done in ancient and modern times, both in China and abroad.
Another thing is that Mozi's theory of ghosts and gods cannot be popular because he has not solved the problem of "where to go".
Without heaven and hell, everything is retribution in this life. This is too easy to prove that it does not exist and too easy to be questioned.
Heaven and hell are different. You cannot prove that it does not exist in this world, but Mozi's theory of ghosts and gods is extremely popular in this world. It always says that there are gods, but the problem is that those princes and nobles who fought in unjustly live well, while those who truly believe in it will die cannot die again.
So let alone princes and nobles, most of the disciples do not believe it. Nowadays, there are almost no one who thinks that ghosts and gods like to act righteousness only if they do righteousness.
Shi felt that at this time, he could show off appropriately and asked, "Sir, can't the law play the same role? If the rules are set and innocent people are killed, then isn't the law playing the same role as you said to punish ghosts and gods?"
Mo Zi asked back: "Can the law be implemented? Even if it can be imposed on the people, are they considered innocent people who launched an unjust war? Who will restrain them?"
He stared at Shi, and he felt that although the sword of the World mentioned last time moved him, he could feel that he had been observing people for many years. Shi must have had other ways, or the sword of the World was only halfway through the talk.
"I am already very old. But I can't do whatever I want without breaking the rules, because I follow my heart, but my heart is not the rules of the world today. Can the sword you mentioned to the world really be forged? The overseas countries you told me have different politics, but they all have their own disadvantages, but they are only less."
"Isn't there a country who firmly believes in the existence of ghosts and gods, is omniscient and omnipotent, and believes that as long as you do something wrong, you will be punished?"
Shi looked at Mo Zi and thought of the countries that would only be there in the future, he replied solemnly: "Sir, there is such a country, but it is useless. This is based on verification first. You don't know about such a country, but I really know about it."
After saying that, he shook his head solemnly and said firmly: "A country like that does not have great governance. On the contrary, the priests make money and dominate, because the one who does not believe in ghosts and gods is often the priests and witches."
The first time Mozi heard Shi answer solemnly, sighing, speechless for a long time.
Shi asked again: "There are also lewd sacrifices here. Do you don't believe in Zhurong's existence? Or do you don't believe in those witches? If the witches just don't believe in witches, then will the witches communicate with ghosts and gods so that you know what kind of sacrifices the ghosts and gods like?"
Mo Zi refused to answer and handed Shi to Shi, the book "Shan Hai Jing" that had been nailed, but Shi dared not answer.
I don’t know if this means that I don’t agree with the Giant. Or is this book that can spread the world in the name of Mozhe.
Mo Zi sighed and said in a very solemn tone for the first time: "Pei Di performs righteousness as the beginning of the sword of covenant with the world. I hope to see a great master, and a Pei who can punish the unrighteousness."
Shi replied: "Pei Jian is too small to make a reservation to the world."
"As long as you can appoint officials and great clans in Peidi, you can make the world appoint in the future. Is it good or bad for a group of people who are fearless and fearless like you? What is the origin of virtue? Will a group of fearless people not be in chaos in the world? Isn't the theory of ghosts and gods help maintain order in the world and restrain the morality of everyone?"
Mo Zi asked and answered himself, and said for a long time: "You read this book to them. I only asked, "Does the paradise you mentioned, and all paradises do not require everyone's self-virtue?"
Shi nodded firmly and replied, "My deeds are shadows, and the land of happiness is objects. The land of happiness changes, and the shadow will change. The virtues of the past will not be virtues in the future. Therefore, the preferences of ghosts and gods are useless. If there are millions of Mo in the world who believe that everyone is equal to the ministers of heaven, whether the princes and nobles believe or not, they will believe it in the end. Because those who do not believe will die."
Mozi asked: "If there were no ghosts and gods saying that everyone should be equal. If the Heavenly Emperor's ambition likes everyone equals, how can people start to believe in it? Because few people believe that people are equal now, how can there be millions of Mo people?"
Shi smiled and said, "Mr. I thought of the simplest reason to argue, but if Mr. I think of a more difficult reason, can't he argue?"
"A reason that does not require the preference of ghosts and gods, but simply uses things, debates, labor, the world, etc. to demonstrate the equality of people, the importance of law and rule, and the source of power for the monarch and subjects to make agreements... Isn't this more difficult to refute? Isn't this easier to believe? Isn't this easier to last forever?"
Mozi smiled and asked, "Do you do?"
"It is unknown. This is a shadow, and it needs to change things, so people can understand it. Therefore, we should benefit the world first, do more things that benefit the world, and let the world think and make a hundred schools of thought, so that more people can have the opportunity to recognize words, use grass and silk, and listen to lectures."
Mozi asked again: "The world is difficult to understand. Can I understand it before them?"
Shi considered Mo Zi’s thoughts besides ghosts and gods, and nodded and said, “You can understand.”
"Then let's wait for the autumn incident, tell me first."
